The situation in Transnistria is more complex than dumb news narratives. There are less than a hundred actual Russian soldiers there, some are part of a legal peacekeeping mission, the president of Transnistria is Ukrainian himself, there's no evidence that Transnistria (which is politically dominated by the commercial interests of the Sheriff corporation with more economic ties to Ukraine and the EU than Russia) wants to get involved in some dumb war.

There has been a huge conflict between the Ukrainian Orthodox and Russian Orthodox Church over the last few years. A lot of what Moscow has been saying about it being a war against decadent western culture and a battle to save Russian and Christian values reminds me a lot of the form of Buddhsim which innately linked to Japanese Nationalism during WWII which framed the war as a battle to preserve Japanese culture against western cultural domination.

I recently noticed a Russian pundit make reference to the 'prophecy' of one Łavrientij of Cziernigov (I use the Russianform of the city name in this instance for a reason) who lived from 1868 to 1950. The claim of his that is repeated is that Biełaruś, Russia and Ukraine were indivisible parts of "Holy Mother Russia", in the same way as the Holy Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He claimed the concept of Ukraine was a perversion, and prophesied that during the last days all of the world would be reunited under a Holy Tsar who will be feared by the Antichrist.

Let's examine some of his quotations, as taken from herewhich is an English source I found.

When the Poles conquered part of Rus’ (Russia), they rented it to the Jews, including Orthodox monasteries, churches and priests. These 'prophecy' have been around for a long time in the original languages, but not as long in English. The Ukrainians and Russians have known about it for many years.

In 1993 the Moscow Patriarchate canonized this fellow, and more recently up to today his words have been used by the Russian entity to justify their continued aggressions.

As with many of the Russian actions recently (and this not quite as recently) I am extremely disappointed although not surprised with what has happened. The canonization of this guy is something else, as it would appear that he is closer in thinking to the actual Nazis of Germany than are the Ukrainian groups which Putin wishes to "denazify". And yet he is used in Russia's propaganda even today.

Cyrillic "Л" becomes "Ł" except when followed by "Ь" or an iotified vowel (Я, E, Ё, Ю in the case of Russian) when it becomes "L". This practice is a long-established standard.

I have explained things such as this in the past to you. Given that such explanations continue to fall on deaf ears I don't know why I continue to bother.

Yes. A section of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church has become autocephalous, i.e., in effect a self-governing church within Eastern Orthodoxy. That is a direct response to significant pro-Putin sentiment within the Russian Orthodox Church (also a part of Eastern Orthodoxy).

Edit: Until recently, there was no independent Ukrainian Orthodox Church. It was all Russian Orthodoxy.
