Twitter is a general cesspool of information sometimes, but occasionally it produces good information or draws awareness to something that actually needs it.

Assad de facto won the Syrian Civil War a while ago. The only resistance is the Turkish-sponsored one that can't break out of Idlib since (IIRC) Assad and the Kurds have a handshake agreement not to mess with each other too much

There definitely is but it will also show Russian soldiers the sheer scale of the resistance they can expect. I mean Ukrainian farmers are towing Russian vehicles away from them for crying out loud.

The Russian military has a history of revolting when the government tried to send them to their certain deaths for no reason. Hope that happens again.

Supposedly this war is not very popular among the Russian officer corps. Putin already is losing support among the normal oligarchs.

On a side note, I am genuinely curious about the weather situation in Ukraine right now. On some pics, you see destroyed tanks covered in snow, on others, people are running around in light clothes and it looks like spring.

Why are they just abandoned?

Could have been immobilised or ran out of fuel and was abandoned by the crew.

Here is another angle of the same tank and truck from a car passing from behind and it appears this T-90 and the truck are the only two disabled russian vehicles, so they might have been on their own and overwhelmed in an ambush or the other Russian vehicles retreated and they got stuck, which then might have caused the crew to ditch it and run.

Oh absolutely. Like…obviously he is one person, but he is one person among millions dealing with a very similar agony and confusion. I hope he truly does return, along with many other Ukrainians who have suffered.

Supposedly, this entire war could be about Russia's geo-strategic concerns, with high similarities to why the US invaded Iraq in 2003. WMDs were a lie that covered up the true motives of the Bush administration.

Russia basically built pipelines to transport oil/natural gas through Ukraine as the Soviet Union, but didn't build as much infrastructure in the other ex-Soviet states. When Ukraine suddenly became independent, Russia had to keep paying tariffs to use Ukraine to transport the resources to European customers. Russia finds the tariffs to be a burden and wants to avoid Ukraine altogether in building pipelines that take alternative routes, but can't if its found that Ukraine has valuable natural gas deposits around Crimea and in east and west Ukraine.

Now suddenly Ukraine can be a disruptive competitor to Russia's energy exports that Russia doesn't want. This invasion is Russia's attempt to take out a major threat to its governmental budget/GDP.
