At times it feels like you americans live in the dark ages. Let me guess, you have schools that teach creationism and offer no sexual education too?

My high school didn't have sex ed and my sophomore biology teacher made a point of pronouncing it "EVILution" every time she said it.

What's a sophomore? To put it into perspective, I spent the first 4 years in the Grundschule, basic school, to learn my simple math, reading, writing and so forth. Then (in my case) 9 years of Gymnasium, the last two to be selected by me to emphasize 2 courses above the rest for special grades (picked Physics and History, historical materialism FTW!).

Absolutely unthinkable here in Germany... afaik even private schools have to teach basic biology. Our sex ed didn't amount to very much... an old film about veneral desease, a general anatomy lesson (from "how is babby formed" to "what is a clitoris, and why you need to know") and the general statement that what any number of willing partners did with each other was 1. a-OK and 2. not anyone elses business. The 45 minutes fiddling a condom over a cucumber were hilarious. Took about a week, but my 12-year-old self didn't get why it would be such a big thing.
We had a choice between Philosophy and Religious Studies... I picked Philo, had a cool old teacher explain Platos Cave and Descartes' "I think, therefore I am". For that man it was all about getting us to question, whereas the woman that tought religion had (as far as I remember) a rather strange obsession with this Jesus-fellow. The general thing was... for us phil-people thinking and asking weird questions were the aim (being stoned in class actually worked for once, though the old cool dude teaching it found out of course. Most of us stoners stopped when it became clear his stuff was funny enough on its own), whereas they learned out of a book. That all was 15-20 years ago, so it might well be different now, I have no idea... they shortened the Gymnasium to 8 years shortly after, I was saddened to read what all got dropped. (learning german History without having heard names like Robert Blum, Thomas Müntzer or Hecker... Shame!)

The really fascinating stuff only comes along in college anyway, sexual education included, hurrhurr. I'd have hated to have been scared off by some old fuddy-duddy saying it all were evil, getting over my inhibitions was hard enough as it were.

The bill targets specific policies adopted in some of Florida's more liberal counties that bar outing kids, e.g. this from Palm Beach County:

Students have the right to be “out” at school, even if they are NOT “out” at home.
Schools may NOT violate student confidentiality by “outing” a student to
parent(s)/caregivers. LGBTQ+ students are permitted to bring same-sex dates to
prom. Transgender students may wear gender-nonconforming clothes to school,
proms, yearbook pictures, and graduation.

So what it means concretely is that a student who seeks support from the school (say, for LGBTQ-related bullying, or even intimate partner violence involving a same-sex partner) cannot trust that the school will not report this to the student's parents (and in fact, the school might be obligated to so report it). Sure, some teachers will still fail to disclose, I'm sure. But without being able to trust that it won't be disclossed, students will be much more reluctant to seek support.
