That's the spirit!

Postby IL Ruffino » Tue Jun 30, 2009 12:18 am

Since we're all alcoholics, I'm sure at least three of you have been wanting a new alcohol discussion, so here it is!

This weekend I'll be drink Hendrick's gin (unless you all give me bad reviews(actually, no, you all hate gin so why should I listen to you bastards?(sark excluded))) for the first time and I'm pretty sure I'll love it. Lately I've been exclusively drinking Tanquarey Ten since it tastes awesome (especially with Code Blue Mountain Dew, if you're not a fan of GnT's) and doesn't give me a hangover.

What are you drinking if you're drinking?

Anyone here dinified enough to drink 211?

If I'm out drinking, I usually drink beer, or whiskey(Jack Daniels for preference). If I'm drinking at home, I drink moonshine.

When I drink, I drink beer. Everything else gives me a wicked hangover, and whisky makes me mean, aggressive and stupid.

Strongbow dry cider is my major weakness, yet I love it so! Generally just one will get me buzzed, two tipsy, and three really happy. I don't know about four or above though, as my self-imposed limit is 3 drinks :p Other than that, I do like me some good Irish whiskey. There's something wrong when the short chick can throw back the whiskey while the big burly Army guy makes faces trying to do the same :p

Mixed drinks though... my group of friends and I concocted one that we all like that also happens to be pretty damn potent. We dubbed it the "Bulma Bang" after our friend Bulma because 1) It has a couple shots of vodka in it and she's Russian, 2) She can't drink alcohol because for some reason she can't process the stuff, and 3) She was *halfway* joking about shooting us for considering "Bulma's Cream" or "Cream de Bulma" as other names for it :D

It's basically this:
- 1 shot Baileys
- 1 shot banana liqueur
- 1 shot vanilla flavored Smirnoff vodka
- 1 shot strawberry flavored Smirnoff vodka
- 1 shot Creme Godiva liqueur
- Vanilla ice cream

Mix in a blender and you've got an awesome alcohol shake. It kinda sneaks up on you and THEN kicks your face in. And it's delicious even when it hits you :D

When out down the pub Cider is the way forward for me. Preference towards whatever is on tap (we have a couple of local ciders) or St Heliers/Koppaberg if they have it (pear cider ftw).

When at home I tend to be horribly, horribly middle class and drink either white wine or, more often, Port.

Jack ain't whiskey. It's whiskey with sugar in it ... ie bourbon. Nasty kid stuff.

If I'm drinking at home, I drink moonshine.

I like it too. "Molested" hits that slightly archaic note, keeps the whole from being just plain sordid.

Not that I think sock molestation is sordid, mind you. Not inherently. If socks are considered to lack the necessary mental capacity to consent, we should be going after the sock abusers who shove their whole foot into an unconsenting sock, before picking on those who ... er, molest socks with er ... um. I'm going to stop now, before I say something really sexist.

I don't know, I like bourbon. De gustibus non disputandum, eh? Besides, the taste isn't the only reason I drink it. I drink Jack for the same reason I use the particular after-shave and cologne that I do. Because it's what I grew up watching my father and grandfather use, and it reminds me of them.

I can say with pride that no-one has ever gone blind from my moonshine. I'm not saying that blind people haven't drunk it, but that's more along the lines of what the insurance companies call 'a pre-existing condition.' I will admit that it has been blamed for a few pregnancies, though, and at least one marriage.

I don't know what I will be drinking this weekend as I am going away with the family, so there will be wine and beer but that may be it.

I may be catching up with a mate who will also be visiting the same city and depending on what we are doing will go out. If that happens then vodka will be making an appearance.

Hendrick's is pretty good gin, though I prefer Plymouth gin. I tend not to like stronger gins, like the export strength Tanqueray, as you don't get as good a flavour.

but yeah, its tasty as hell. my g/f introduced me to it last week after having been years since i've drunk any alcohol at all - partly due to medication, and partly cos i went off the taste of all my old drinks after a while. but this one is just the right mix of sweet and bitter, with an awesome strawberry taste. friends think i'm a big pink fag (their words) for drinking it, but i don't care cos its yummers 8)

Usually beer. Like the taste, like the buzz. Easier to keep track of!

Although once in a while I drink Jägermeister-Energy. You get drunk but you can't fall asleep - a devilish combination!

Or that nasty green woodruff vodka. Tastes like yello.

I'm drinking mostly and often beer. That's my favourite.

Sometimes wine.

If i want something stronger then nothing beats good old vodka. But on occasions and depending on other preferences and available supply i will gladly drink brandy (preferably with coke), whiskey (preferably with coke), gin (preferably with tonic), absinth (preferably with lemon juice) and maybe some strange alcoholic cocktails in bars...
