It should be easy to show that they've made an effort. Politicians could keep records of "billable hours" like lawyers do, or just show that they brought up the proposal several times in committee.

Honestly, this so easy to do that my main concern is they would just make token efforts. They never seriously pushed for the idea, but it would be difficult to prove otherwise.

If bringing it up in committee is all takes what is the point of this law?

Naw, I'm just pointing out that a balance must be struck. This law needs to have teeth, but also not be too strenuous. Like all laws. People try to weasel out of laws all the time, that doesn't make laws pointless.

Let me get this straight. If a candidate for governor or president proposes a bold bill but it doesn't get much traction once they get elected they get charged with fraud?

Did they try? If they did then no they won’t get hit with fraud. If it’s the opposite then fraud time.

Campaigning for office is about ideas. Some landmark legislation started out as just ideas on the campaign trail and then later became law later.

Lol. Campaigning for office is about getting into power, not about ideas or any other pie in the sky things you think it’s about

The Interstate Highway System was first proposed in 1916. It didn't get built until Eisenhower made it a priority.

Presumably the person who proposed it in 1916 made an effort to get it built, so I'm not sure what your point is?

Not really. Wilson did campaign on it but World War One prevented much of the funding from being used and the act expired.

So, in fact, they did make an effort, but circumstances intervened.

Thank you for explaining why Wilson wouldn't be punished under this system.

Figures that whilst I've been in the throes of another sciatic attack, the Plaza chugs along. Thankfully, three of them were bond issues without constitutional repercussions, so they can be ignored. Two more do show up however.

Alabama: Number six would allow the state or local governments to grant federal award funds or state funds marked for broadband internet infrastructure to public or private entities that plan to expand, provide, or introduce broadband. Any local government doing this would have to have the measure approved by the town or county in question.

Florida: Amendment 3 would allow the state legislature to grant a new homestead property tax exemption of $50,000 on public service workers such as teachers, law enforcement, EMT and fire personnel, active duty military or national guard, and child welfare workers.

The first amendment would not allow such a law and its totally pointless as no one would be able to propose anything they couldn't guarantee unless you make such a low standard as to make such a law pointless.

Yes. Let’s have democracy in all aspects, governmental, economic and workplace democracy.
