Or perhaps like others you have zero understanding of how politics works. If your going to charge people with fraud if they promise something but can’t prove they made an effort to pass it your going to have to indict just about anyone who is victorious.

Buddy, I don't know if you're in a position to lecture others about not understanding how politics works.

Then they won’t make promises they know they can’t keep. Sounds good to me

Free healthcare, worker protections, and publicly funded transportation is pretty cool

That is pretty cool, but could we throw at least a little smidge of democracy in there?

I understand it far better than some people here who want to hold people to ridiculous standards and want to burn everything down and change it overnight and if I don’t get my way screw it.

So no bold long term plans that can’t happen immediately. Many landmark laws would have never been passed.

Sure you can vote for local politicians without any interference. I’ll run for president too but that’s going to be very much rigged in my favor

Because rigging the election is very anti-corruption

I mean, "make an effort" is so vague that it sounds like the real problem is politicians would make a token effort. What you imagine as the problem is something that would almost definitely not happen.

Well that depends. Are you disagreeing because you want to over throw the government or because of how things are run? If it’s the former straight to jail, if it’s the latter you probably won’t be jailed because people voicing their grievances is how the regime keeps itself from falling apart

Let me get this straight. If a candidate for governor or president proposes a bold bill but it doesn't get much traction once they get elected they get charged with fraud?

Campaigning for office is about ideas. Some landmark legislation started out as just ideas on the campaign trail and then later became law later.

Well I’ve said that make an effort has to be more like attempting to pass laws or actually do the things you said you would. Token effort wouldn’t cut it.

I didn’t say they’d apply to me. Obviously I’m immune to prosecution until I’m out of office, which won’t ever happen

Did they "make an effort?" Because that was what the requirement was, not that the thing actually gets passed.

It should be easy to show that they've made an effort. Politicians could keep records of "billable hours" like lawyers do, or just show that they brought up the proposal several times in committee.

Honestly, this so easy to do that my main concern is they would just make token efforts. They never seriously pushed for the idea, but they did enough that it would be difficult to prove otherwise.

Did they try? If they did then no they won’t get hit with fraud. If it’s the opposite then fraud time.

Campaigning for office is about ideas. Some landmark legislation started out as just ideas on the campaign trail and then later became law later.

Lol. Campaigning for office is about getting into power, not about ideas or any other pie in the sky things you think it’s about

If bringing it up in committee is all takes what is the point of this law?
