I doubt this will happen and hope this doesn't get far. Russian military and political influence outside of Belarus and Eastern Ukraine is dead in the water and no one really takes them seriously for good reason. This is at best a bluff, and one not even the stupidest Western heads of state will even come close to falling for for any number of reasons, not the least of which is because it would be geopolitical suicide.

But Russian citizens will take it seriously. Whenever our government does something absurd we get sanctioned to hell and become even more poor economically, and to make up for material losses they’ll increase taxation even more. If this doesn’t have little to no consequences for you westerners this doesn’t mean that no one will suffer
