Ukraine is holding off advancing Russian forces and appears to be doing well, it looks like armor won’t be arriving on time. Kyiv is silent as dawn is breaking and birds sing, it’s eerily beautiful.

Now its a time game, Hold down the fort long enough and there is a chance to enter negotiation, Something the Zulu failed to do agianst the british. Ukraine staying on the defensive is crucial here since it will granish more international support.

Certainly NATO membership would compromise its ability to maintain cordial relations with violently anti-US interests, like Iran and North Korea.

But in this day and age, when the Soviet bloc is a fading memory and ‘violently anti-US interests’ mostly consist of various impoverished basketcases, one wonders how much that is worth compared to a serious security guarantee against Russia, especially considering that Sweden, like many other Western European states, seriously downsized their military and defences since the end of the Cold War. Neutrality means standing alone, and in a tough neighbourhood like ‘next to Russia’, that means being able to stand strong - and I question Sweden’s ability to do that in this day and age unless it really commits to rearmament.

No sources for this, since I can’t be bothered to look around for them, but I have heard that the right-wing opposition in the riksdag are starting to consolidate around a pro-NATO stance, so we might still see Sweden in NATO after the next elections and maybe a referendum.

Just saw a dozen cars driving around Kyiv, that’s odd. I’m not sure if they’re Ukranians or Russians, but they seem to be driving as a group.

EDIT: big boom, but I think it’s thunder and showers. Traffic is picking up, I think it’s Ukranians getting out of curfew.

Your comparisions are Extreme ones when the war just started, Its ovbious right now Putin isnt trying to wipe out a race of people and its also ovbious that doing what you say he plans on doing would derail russian intrests with securing the pensiula and buffing their naval fleet and would also turn Russia into a pariah on the world stage, something Russia cant afford

As a Swede I believe our government along with Finland should make moves to join Nato as soon as possible and to send arms to Ukraine.
