But unfortunately Earth and its biosphere is the only planet my biology is adapted to, and as a sentient social animal I require a minimum amount of interaction with other sentient or semi-sentient animals and ideally members of my own species. Also, I couldn't escape Earth even if there was another world I could go to.

I, however, am terrified of the 2024 election because if Trump or a Trumpist wins, we might move from the legalistic phase of fascism in the U.S. to more overt fascism and I suspect I will be included in the groups that will be persecuted in 8 or 12 years (and maybe eventually that persecution will develop into genocidal machinations). If on the other hand Trump loses but claims he won, we might actually have a schism in our political and military institution with rebels literally taking over territory for Trumpism against the elected governments of the localities, states, and federal government claiming they are serving the legitimate government and that Trump is the true commander and chief, which would be a factional and violent and unstable situation in the U.S. that could devolve into civil war. While neither possibility is guaranteed, the fact that they have enough of a likelihood that they cannot be outright dismissed terrifies me, and if the U.S. backslides as a democracy, it will embolden more backsliding of democracy internationally (Polish officials are already saying that if Trump wins in 2024, they think that they will become a completely authoritarian government). Doing my research, if the worse case scenario occurs, I think my best bet is to become an undocumented refugee migrant from the U.S. and escape to Latin America.

Why Latin America?

The landmass is already connected to the U.S.

Certain countries in Latin America are doing poorly democratically, but others are doing well (like Uruguay - mostly) and some places are becoming more democratic over time

I don't see the rest of the English speaking world or Europe as a safe haven, as a lot of European Countries, along with English speaking countries like New Zealand, Australia, and Canada are also becoming backsliding democracies and dealing with far-right movements of their own.

I do not think I could adapt to the language and customs of certain Oceanic countries or Asian countries (specifically China) in a timely fashion, and time would be of the essence.

I could consider Africa, but Latin America seems to be more viable for myself and my family in my opinion.
