Not to worry, those tickets will soon start appearing again for resale at 5 times their original price.

If you and your friends can spare 30k a ticket you can just rent a cinema.
And probably already have one at home.

Anyone spending that kind of money on a movie ticket is, presumably, more interested in being able to say they saw the movie on opening night than actually seeing the movie. Probably no one will spend that much on scalped tickets, though.

Unless the ticket itself is of quality material (usually isnt, but hey, its just a hypothesis, (A FILM HYPOTHESIS))

Considering it opens in the UK two days before the US that was pretty much going to happen anyway.

As an aside: I waited all year for Dune 2021, and just before it was released some bastard told me what it was all about. :frownyface:

In other news…I tried looking this up, no one has said anyone bought the tickets, and the listings that actually have bids are $100-200 for two tickets. Still more than I would pay (but then I have a-list, I didn’t pay anything over my subscription). But hardly pearl clutching levels.

I use to do on-sales for concerts and sports in the Bay Area and I was fast enough that scalpers would show up ear,y because on a good day I could get the front rows two, maybe three times, doesn’t sound impressive but there were a bunch of terminals all grabbing at the same time as well as phone and early internet.

I hated that dude but I also hated shuffling the line at 9am so instead I would hand out the raffle tickets until he left and then tell everyone never mind I was just getting rid of a scalper. Oddly enough the moment that made me do that was when he tried to tip me.

It’s not like I think it’s more noble for Ticketmaster/bass to gouge fans instead of this guy but this guy was an avoidable double dip.
