Yes. Because a "European Identity" doesn't inherently exist among likeminded people to OP in actual Europe.

Indeed. The people who think like the OP in Europe are way more into national identities and isolationism.

Poland, as an overwhelmingly Catholic country, shares a lot of culture with, for example, Italy, on that basis and on other basis of shared history - running up to the present, as both are now client states of the NATO/EU empire and have their metaculture imposed on them.

I have heard of the movie, although that was all because of a crappy parody by Channel Awesome.

There is a common shared European high culture so it’s not that surprising. I mean it would have happened if you’d picked Georgia and England.

I need to start charging for these obvious explanations.

A religion is an institution of culture. At times, it is also an institution of law. Laws, generally, are derived from culture, and also define and reinforce it.

Religions, contrary to popular superstition, do not fall from the sky. They spread horizontally, in the same patterns by which trade and war spreads. So, if two places have the same religion, this means they necessarily have some shared history, because it has to have gotten there somehow.

Kerwa wrote:There is a common shared European high culture so it’s not that surprising. I mean it would have happened if you’d picked Georgia and England.

Frankly, this thread is a psycho-horror show, which exists to demoralize I, the protagonist of it, with a macabre display of supposedly 100+ IQ adults with at least high school and in some cases university education, who will make the same untrue statements, over and over again, about something really, really basic.

There are two possible explanations for this:

1) They just don't like their neighbors, don't want to be in a polity with them, and think that by saying "europeans have no common culture" they are really saying "I don't want a fourth reich."

2) Their years of education has not armed them with an understanding of history and culture that you would get if you spend one hour in one class, taught by me, on the first day of it.

With respect to 1), I also don't like my national neighbors, I don't want to be in their polity or want them in mine, and I don't even know what a fourth reich would look like, but the last one sucked, so it's a failing brand. But, we do have a lot in common. If there was a literal carbon copy of me, I would fight my clone for food. We would still have a lot in common.

With respect to 2), people cannot possibly be this dense - but they can be this dishonest. I think it is within the capacity of people understand, as quoted above, "high culture", in the sense of an over-culture, which allows Polacks and Italians to have differences between them - notoriously, their language - but also similarities between them - notoriously, their religion, secular Enlightenment and postmodern philosophy, alphabet, the architecture of their governments, their material architecture and art, their EU super-polity, their calendar of holidays, their genetic distance, and many aspects of their ways of life and personal habits. There is just something weirdly political-psychological going on in this thread, which is probably related to the lack of popularity of "white identity" and cardinally numbered reichs hanging over the OP, which leads them to making dishonest statements as a knee-jerk reflex.

More than anything, this thread so far makes a hard case that we need a licensing agency to issue permits to people to have opinions, or that our whole way of educating people has never trained them to use natural language in a way that only outputs formally true arguments.

The UK suffers from bad politicians, Scotland does alright.

Though other than the Tories of the last decade, I'm not sure that UK politicians even remotely compare to the level of terrible Romanian politicians.

Although at least Romania occasionally charges its corrupt politicians with crimes instead of doing shit-all about them.

No, I was actually wrong and it was 1997 that he officially became the patron saint of Romania.
