It's about control over women, sure, but also about political point-scoring. The GOP knows it will never win an election on "cut taxes for the very rich, cut social spending for everyone else and let infrastructure rot", so it needs other issues (abortion, gun rights, CRT, immigration, ...) which can appeal to some people's irrational fears to make some vote for them (and since even that is not enough, they then need gerrymandering and voting suppression in addition).

I mean, the first and third points were illegal because of the Christian view of sex needing to allow for procreation.

Also, the 2nd part, while not mandated sex, marriage was considered a legal blanket consent to all sexual activity within the marriage. Took until the late 70's for the US to fully illegalize marital rape.

Owning five restaurants isn't being middle class, it's being part of the bourgeoisie, it means your family was not earning its income through providing labor, but through exploiting the labor of others. The cook and waitress in all the restaurants worked, created wealth by doing so, and your family paid them only for a part of the wealth they created, putting the rest in their pockets just because they were owners. The basics of capitalist exploitation. And the Cuban Revolution was right to expropriate them.
