Well, the state's medical examiner just testified, under direct examination, that Rosenbaum's hand when struck by the bullet was either in close proximity or in contact with the business end of the rifle.

.... why is he being tried for the death of Rosenbaum again?

The prosecution was hoping they could get him on kill one, because if he was unjustified in opening fire in the first place, all other shootings after that were also unjustified.

It turns out they can't even get him on that, and the whole thing has become a farce.

I honestly don't know how the judge can keep this going to jury verdict at this point, especially given the state of the prosecution and now a seemingly attempt to dox the jurors which could interfere with their judgement.

Perhaps so. Judge dismissed count 7 against kyle (I think that was the curfew violation)

As an aside, the way people view dangerousness or nefariousness of these things seems completely backward.

People fear rifles more than handguns, even though rifles are used to kill a vanishingly small amount compared with handguns. And people wearing body armor is viewed as even more dangerous even though there's probably a number approaching zero that have been killed by body armor.

Anyway, sure the DA is going to try to capitalize on the body armor remark.

He's already presumed innocent, so if it goes the prosecution's way it would be found guilty on all charges or select charges.

Basically, in broad strokes (and I'm talking purely from the *prosecution* witnesses standpoint):

1) Rosenbaum threatened to murder Rittenhouse. Hid ahead of him as he was coming down the street. Approached him from behind, chased him down as he fled yelling "friendly friendly friendly", attempted to assault him with (what was likely ultimately harmless) a plastic bag. Then as he was chasing, another person, Joshua Ziminski, fired a shot from behind. As Rittenhouse turned to look at the shot, Rosenbaum yelled "fuck you" and attempted to seize control of Rittenhouse's weapon. Per the medical examiner, his hand was either on the weapon when shot or very very close.

2) After this, Rittenhouse runs towards police as people shout various forms of incitement to attack (and at least one incitement to kill) him. He tells one person - Grosskreutz - he is going to the police. Another person punches him in the back of the head as he runs towards police. Another person (Huber) hits him in the back with the skateboard.

3) He falls (whether he tripped or fell from the impact is unclear), but he is immediately drop kicked in the face by Drop Kick Man (that's officially what he's being called in court, since we don't know his name) wearing heavy work boots. Rittenhouse fired twice at him, and missed.

4) Huber strikes him a second time with the skateboard, and tries to seize his weapon. He shoots Huber once in the chest.

5) As Huber is getting shot, Grosskreutz runs up gun in hand, and puts his hands up when Huber gets shot. Rittenhouse holds his fire. Grosskreutz then drops his hands, rushes forward, and points his gun at Rittenhouse. Rittenhouse was a hair faster, and shot most of his bicep off with one shot.

6) Then Rittenhouse gets up, and starts moving towards police again.

And all of this is according to the *prosecution* witnesses.

I'd be curious how the DA will capitalize on that, since it's no secret that Kyle went there with the knowledge that the situation could be dangerous. That's why he had a gun. What's the DA going to argue, that wearing body armor means you're looking for a fight more than carrying a rifle does?
