The Founders messed up when they didn't prescribe certain "forbidden" amendments. Some kinds of revisions should never have been allowed, such as woman suffrage.

If Liberal Democracy is so egotistically fragile that rapey slavey statue man losing his statues causes its doom, then maybe Liberal Democracy has no right to exist.

Of all the threats currently facing Liberal Democracy... this is the one you focus on? Really? While I personally disagree with the choice to remove the statue of Thomas Jefferson (Its there for his contribution's to this nation's founding in the DoI and as President) I find it hard to see how this issue compared with staggering wealth inequality, political apathy, a political duopoly (in the US), and incompetent leaders - among other things - is of particular importance. Really, it's just a damn distraction when it comes down to it. Leave FF statues alone, acknowledge the good with the bad, honor the victims, screw Confed. Statues. Done.

Dems do them plenty of favors on that front. Frankly, the obsession in our political discourse with Culture War is a damn cancer to our civic unity. Focus on governing not cultural points ya fucks!

Edit: Maybe if we had an actually functioning political system the national debt wouldn't be 27 trillion dollars and counting as we continually fail to solve America's gripping socio-economic problem!

Hmmm? Actually; I think the big problem for them was the fact they rather timid in campaigning the culture war.

Be honest. Both parties do that. Neither has an economic populist agenda of the sort that would unite the multi-racial working class behind them. They both have to pit the black and white workers against each other, from opposite sides, in order to distract voters from the failed state that is America thanks to both of them. If the people really knew how much their public servants served someone else, something other than the public, they'd all be hanged or shot on Pennsylvania Avenue by now.

No more than statues of Lenin are necessary for Communism, but I must ridicule the performative outrage of both sides on these kinds of red herring cultural war issues.
