Kind of weird how a nation that makes a point of not having a national religion is so steeped in politics and religion mixing, and some other nations with official religions are so politically agnostic. Weird times.

There is next to nothing wrong with Windows Vista if you give it a chance in 2020. That is, I'm aware it is obsolete now, but imagine if Vista was released in 2020. It was just too ahead of its time, and Windows 7 was the result of Vista's failure.

I keep wanting to switch to Linux but I'm too lazy to learn it. I'm so fucking sick of updates and Microsoft accounts at gunpoint.

Am I misremembering or didn't updates used to be super rare? I swear back when XP was the big thing there were like 2 per year at most.

As a Linux user for the past seven years, there are some distros that aren't that hard to install. Linux Mint, Ubuntu, Zorin (which looks a lot like Windows so billy bonus), Pop!_OS (which is ideal for gaming despite the whole Steam SNAFU that happened a few weeks ago) and a few others have proper installers so you don't need to waste hours compiling anything. There are even a few computers (like Chromebooks and System76's stuff) that have distros pre-installed if you want to skip all that. All you'd need is the distro you want, a memory stick, Rufus (or some other bootable drive software) and maybe a guide just to be safe.

You sold me on System76 and Pop!_OS, though I have to ask what kind of SNAFU happened..

Basically when people (most notably Linus Tech Tips) tried to sudo apt install Steam it basically deleted the GUI. Fortunately that issue has since been fixed, albeit before Linus put out that video, but fortunately there are a few distros with app stores so there's no need to copy and paste any codey stuff into a terminal just to install anything.

Also, good choice going for Pop!_OS, I've suggested it to a friend of mine for when he wants to make the leap to Linux as well. It probably helps that it's one of the few distros that actually works with Nvidia, although that version's kind of listed separately to a normal one that doesn't have all that driver support. The computers themselves are quite expensive ($1,100 for their cheapest laptop and that's with a sale going on at the minute) but fortunately the OS itself is free.

all four of those distributions are pretty terrible, chrome os (which is gentoo but impossible to administrate) even more so. i'll point out that the install phase for opensuse or debian is not noticeably more complicated than any of those, although administration is probably more difficult due to the greater freedom they afford. and nixos is actually simpler than all of those to install in my experience and it's a great option for even beginners if you aren't a developer and will never need to compile anything in C/++ from source.

Think about it: A person is too young to have sex, it'll traumatize them, fuck them up, but you would throw that person in prison as if that's not inflicting a hundred times more suffering than a rapist?

If someone is too immature to consent to sex, how the fuck can they be mature enough to be competent to stand trial as an adult for a crime?
