No, it's usually literally the same thing that they've slapped a 150% markup on for the "Apple" name and the style-over-functionality industrial design. The older hardware was usually stuff that was demonstrably worse, but they pretended was better because you paid more for it.

not even, i think their labor practices are terrible - though no moreso than any other tech company - and their os design is lacking (albeit not as much as microsoft's or google's). i simply think their products are aesthetically and structurally superior and tend to last longer which makes them worth the extra money for people who are able to pay

I've got a Mac SE/30, c. 1988, kicking around. At one point, I was trying to get MkLinux to run on it, which was all kinds of adventures in Apple stupidity. Lemme put it this way: I had to buy a new screwdriver in order to copy files to it.
But more to the point, I've had to administer Macs off and on since 1995. I've had to deal with a dozen Macs causing more problems, and having more problems, many of them chronic and unfixable, than 200 Windows PCs. I've had to build networks so that the Macs were partitioned off into their own ghetto so they'd stop flooding out real traffic with constant pointless Appletalk chatter. I had to admin a Mac OS X Server box once, and that was a fucking nightmare, let me tell you. Apple claimed it would run both classic MacOS software or MacOS X software, but what they actually meant was that it would run either, but you had to reboot it in between, and there wasn't actually any useful OS X software yet anyway, so it could not actually do the shit we bought it for.
When I say they're literally the same hardware, just with a markup for the Apple name, I mean exactly that. They're literally the same parts, from literally the same manufacturers, and there's nothing particularly special about the way Apple assembles them. Apple will charge you twice as much for sticks of RAM that literally came out of the same factory as the RAM you can buy anywhere else. Apple also has a history of going to great lengths to lock you into the Apple ecosystem, and then forcing obsolescence every few years.
And the older hardware? From before Macs were just gratuitously incompatible PC clones? There's a reason they switched to x86. It's because the PowerPCs sucked ass, and the performance gap got to the point that they could not pretend they were winning anymore, even with the Apple Reality Distortion Field in full force. (I think they licensed that thing to the Republicans...) Back when they were pushing the dual G4s as the latest divine revelation on the strength of Altivec, and claiming to have invented SMP, I was running a dual Athlon box that had cost me half as much as the cheapest G4 Macs, which would curbstomp the fastest G4 Macs, at things that were heavily optimized for SMP and Altivec, with one CPU tied behind its back. And it just got worse from there.
Hell, the only reason Apple survived long enough to start pushing shitty overpriced phones in the first place is that they convinced artistes that they needed it to run Photoshop.

You could get some wired earphones & connect them to listen to radio, or create playlists.Page wrote:And even Android deleted Google Play which really pissed me off but you can use Audify which does display ads but if you use it offline like on an airplane, it still works.

Then again the only MacBooks I've owned were company-issued, I'd never buy one myself.
My dad recently bought a $4000 (Singapore dollars) MacBook on the account that he needs the more powerful line of machine for CPU and GPU intensive stuff on the go (my desktop cost around $2300). On one hand, I was happy for him and since it's his own money and whatnot, I'm not here to judge. ❤️ On the other, that probably can buy him an used car in Burma.
That, and he rarely ever buys something this expensive for himself, with the last one he bought being a MacBook Pro 2013, and that is also still kicking. So this one is going to last him for a decade (we don't buy electronics on a very, very regular basis. Very wasteful, and they barely change).
It's expensive as all heck, but he is finding quite a lot of use for it (on both MacOS and running Parallels), and not going to lie, I'm kinda envious.
I still have my Dell Inspiron 7559 from 2016, which went through a screen, keyboard, and battery replacement, and I love the device because it's one of the most maintenance friendly laptops out there.
As a disclaimer, we are neither Mac nor Windows nor Linux fanboys. We have used all of them equally - from cheapest devices that runs on 2 GB RAM to well... This!
