One race into the NASCAR season and this new car already feels like a POS...

Jeebs, technically it may not be the most structurally sound but damn is it fun to watch. I was thoroughly engaged the entire race and that’s not something I can say about all races.

They were mostly 2 wide and single file so not a bad race to watch.

What I’m happy about here is that we saw that they decreased the closing rates; you can actually block a run without getting yourself killed on the track. Kes was a menace.

No official word on this yet, but scuttlebutt has it that Haas is ready to drop Nikita Mazepin as a driver. Given that he's very much a Pay Driver and his main source of income that he brings to the team (Daddy's Cash) has dried up as a result of the Russian sanctions.

Haas re-sign Kevin Magnussen on multi-year deal to replace Nikita Mazepin

I can already hear Gunther's door quaking in fear.

You're thinking of Grosjean. KMag has done exactly one IndyCar race, qualifying 21st and ending up a DNF through mechanical failure.

Oh. I forgot about him. Well I happy to see him back. I hope to actually see some race's this year. I didn't see one last year.

Hmm, I have the Disney/Hulu bundle, which I think is supposed to include ESPN, so maybe I could actually watch since that documentary series about the season hasn't popped up on Netflix this time. I still haven't got around to watching the doc on Bubba Wallace. I guess it'd be a companion to Uppity about my fav Willy T Ribbs.

12 Hours of Sebring approaches.

EDIT: Spoke too soon. Watching Drive to Survive now.

EDIT the 2nd: Okay, I get your guy's thing with Mazepin. Oof that kid and double oof his douchebag father.

Alright, I know what I said, but after that Drive to Survive...that was a pretty intense F1 season. I like the prediction dude made before the last race over who would win, Hamilton or Verstappen. He said "they won't make it past the second turn on the first lap..."

Verstappen is a pretty aggressive driver. I remember (obviously waaaaaaay lower stakes) things like that in karting. Two drivers get their egos up in a dander and stop giving each other racing space.

No one made the comparison of Verstappen brake checking Hamilton to Damon Hill slowing down in the rain in front of Schummaker? (though in my view Hamilton knew he was getting the spot back, why he was that directly behind Verstappen was a little confounding...other than they were still in the racing line-ish).

But a last minute pass on the last lap after a restart deciding the championship, can't really get closer than that. Very un-F1. Very much not something I'm use to seeing.

I went to IMS yesterday. I couldn't do the tour because we didn't realize it ended at 3 pm but it was still fun

I went to IMS during a road trip, but it was the first day of qualifying for the MotoGP so I too could not take the tour.

But I did touch the Marmon Wasp and the Berg-Warner trophy.
