It makes the news when there are volcanic eruptions and wildfires. Seems like a really pretty state, though.

I had that feeling when I visited Calgary and Edmonton: I can remember the very slow traffic heading into Calgary as we snaked through its suburbs before seeing my aunt, but it is most certainly a very big city.

Haha here's the kicker: that's where we were travelling from. So, you know, from somewhere a *bit* bigger than Saskatoon.

If you're under fire in the no-man's land of WW1, you start digging a foxhole even if the ideal time would be when you *aren't* being bombarded, because once you wait for it to be 'time', other situations will need your attention, assuming you survive that long. Hey, someone else from Wisconsin! I live in Appleton. Technically we're both in the southeastern part of the state geographically, but I'm always grouped with Green Bay and northeast Wisconsin for everything.

Kind of reminds me of how Oshkosh, WI has more name recognition because of EAA every summer, but we're actually the bigger city of the two, especially when you consider all the suburbs. I guess Appleton is known for shopping?
75,000 versus 66,000 within city limits; 216,000 versus 74,000 for the contiguous urban area. Green Bay has more name recognition than both (go Packers!) and is bigger than us in terms of city proper population (107,000), but their urban area too is smaller than ours (206,000) - as our area started out as a bunch of separate small towns that all fused together into one sprawling mini-mega-metropolis.

Ancorai wrote:Born and raised in San Diego, but now doing undergrad in Washington, DC. I miss the weather :(

I'd rather have DC weather - more precipitation, and warmer in the summer. The cold wouldn't bother me as much because I'm used to a lot colder than that!

Jokes on you Facebook/Google/Apple/Whatever!

I'm from a neat place called Jupiter. It's quite alright if you stay out of some layers of the atmosphere.

Jokes aside I am from a large city in Eastern Asia and live in a small island city in Western Europe now which is famous for their Gin, horse meat and terrible, terrible football. Oh! And it is one of the oldest cities in this nation, perhaps even the oldest (established around the late 1100's).
