I moved around a LOT when I was younger. About six times before I was 11 (from my birth city of Coventry to the East Midlands, then all around the East Midlands befoe moving up to the Highlands of Scotland, then down to West Sussex before I moved back to Coventry). I then stayed in Coventry for about 15 years before moving up to Cumbria because cheaper houses. Unfortunately that proved to be a hassle because I had to move into my brother's house while we waited for completion before my mum and I moved to Whitehaven. We stayed there for about a year before my mum wanted to move because we were living in an area where the nearest shop was a small drive. So, instead of moving to a different part with closer shops like I wanted to (and I can't move out because I don't have the means to support myself), she's moved us back over to Workington where we're staying with my brother for a bit before we move not that far from him.

TL;DR: Ten house moves in 27 years. And I wouldn't be surprised if that number gets bigger (especially since I'm hoping to move abroad at some point).

I've moved 3 times in my life, each time sucked more and more, lots of work and money wasted imo.
Told the ol lady I ain't movin' any more, if her work wants her someplace else, she can go, and I'll stay where I'm at.

Really, other countries? Which ones?

Cool. I have visited Mexico, the UK, Israel, and Japan with my family, but never lived in any other countries.

It's a pretty cool place. I was 11 when we went there and I was blown away by how beautiful it was. I definitely hope to visit again.

I moved around a ton as a kid, stayed in the same place through my teens, then have been moving around a lot again as an adult. It's good - I quite like the liberating feeling that comes with moving. It is stressful but exciting if you seize the opportunities that come with a fresh move.

I only ever moved house once when I was a kid, from the village in Gloucestershire where I was born, to another village literally just a few miles away in Herefordshire. We also had a winter home in Switzerland, but it was just that, a winter home.

During my university years, I lived in Sheffield, aside from one year that I spent in Seoul, South Korea. Fast forward a year and I now live in a Herefordshire town near to where I grew up.

I've moved quite a bit, but it's been within the same 25 mile radius in West Virginia.

Birth-2 years: Don't remember this house. Only knowledge I have of it are pictures from when I was a baby. Apparently it flooded the day I was born. Dad had to get some people from the church to help him quickly get it cleaned up so mom wouldn't have to bring me home to a muddy house.

2-5 years: Literally moved across the street. It was a small, single wide trailer with a total of 6 rooms (2 bed, 2 bath, living room and kitchen).

5-10 years: My aunt was selling her old house and dad thought it would be a great idea if we upgraded and bought the place. It was in a rural area and ngl it was kinda sketchy. Mom would later tell me that she often felt like she was being watched in that house. The wiring was all messed up; turn on the microwave and the lights in the living room went out, use the microwave and the TV turned off, etc. When I was 7 our neighbors got busted for running a meth lab (fun conversation that was, my parents explaining to me who the people in the bright yellow space suits going into our neighbor's house were). The following year the house caught on fire. Finally, when I was 10, the Great Recession hit, the mortgage company jacked up our house payment, and we had no choice but to move.

But in spite of the fact that our house was probably cursed, I had some good memories there. After all, it's where I spent most of my early childhood. There was a huge room above the garage that my parents let me have as a playroom. Sometimes I miss those days.

10-15 years: We ultimately ended up moving in with my grandma (mom's mom). It was out in a rural area (but this time our neighbors were a bit closer). Even though the circumstances surrounding this move weren't so great, I have a lot of positive memories of this place. After dinner, grandma and I would sit on the front porch together and talk. I'd tell her about my day, and she would tell me about family and her life during her younger years. It was very quiet and peaceful, save for some crickets and the occasional ATV. Up the road from us was a farm, and the people who lived there would sometimes play bluegrass music that we could hear from our yard.

Eventually, grandma was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, and when I was 15, she went to a nursing home because we could no longer provide the care that she needed. I know nursing homes often get a bad rep in the media, but this one was actually a very nice nursing home. The staff were so kind and provided such wonderful care to her. When she went to the home, we moved. She later passed away when I was 16.

15-16 years: A tiny, cozy 3 bedroom apartment. We only lived here briefly until a larger unit with a garage became available in that same complex.

16-17 years: A larger, cozy 3 bedroom apartment. We moved when my parents decided that we should move into the same neighborhood as my other grandma (dad's mom).

17-23 years: Where we currently live. It's a gorgeous 3 bedroom home. I have a nice little alcove in my room where I can sit and look out onto the river and the street below. It's also super close to my undergrad school. However, with my dad's disability worsening, he's not able to do the maintenance needed on the house, and hiring people to do it for us is expensive, so we're working on moving to an apartment now. Incidentally, it's the same apartment we lived in when I was 16-17, and it's much closer to where I'm currently going to grad school.

I have only moved once in my life, when I was eight months old when my parents and I moved from a basement suite to a cozy house that we still live in today, but within the same city (Saskatoon).

At some point though, in the future, I will need to move out, as my parents are getting older, and I will need to figure out where to live that isn't a) owned by a slumlord and b) is not homelessness, given that while I have plenty of fond memories of the house I live in, it's not necessarily in the best shape, and I honestly am tempted to sell it to some developers in an "as is" condition and pray they tear it down.

Hopefully by then, I can move into a condo near the city centre, so I don't have to drive anywhere for 95% of my daily needs.
