What didn't help was that we lived in a country house with a lot of creaks, which just added to the creepiness for her.

Our first house in New Jersey was sort of like that. The basement was especially creepy. Our current New Jersey house at least has a nice finished basement with good lighting and no mystery noises. My parents told me that our new house in Texas doesn't even have a basement and is in a pretty safe suburban area.

I don't believe I was ever truly scared of the dark, more afraid of the types of people who come out after dark in some places. I'm a nightowl and I normally sleep throughout the day and stay awake all night, kind of used to the dark.

I have an uncle who lives in Portland, Oregon. He says that his neighborhood is fairly safe by day, but by night it is crawling with drunks and people on drugs looking for a fight. His house has been broken into twice now this year alone.

I wasn’t until accidentally while watching YT, I saw Pennywise. It freaked me out so much. For the next 6 years, I would be scared of the dark. Now I’m not really that scared, but whenever I see something freaky, I get scared for just that night.

I used to be, and funnily enough religion played a significant part of it. This is because according to Islam, spirits and genies are real, they actually do exist and they can create change in our reality, with stories of witchcraft and people being killed due to voodoo being abundant. Now that I know those aren't a thing anymore, my life quality significantly improved, especially since I also love travelling to places.

I'd even say that "being not afraid at all of ghosts and spirits" would be one of my top "unique quirk" I'd like to include on people's first impression of me, simply because mysticism is just this widespread in my community. Though recently, I've also been trying to change people into not being scared of ghosts, by changing the perspective of these beings from "a terrifying existence you should fear" to "an amusing phenomenon, something like seeing an rare exotic animal in the wild, that you should be excited about".

I always prefer the term "irreligious", but yeah.

Usually not, I like hanging out in the dark and relaxing. Every once in a while, though, I sometimes feel little strange, a little anxious when it's dark...

It can still unnerve me a bit but that depends entirely on where i am. If im in my home or near my house not as soo much but if its somewhere im not familiar with i can be a bit wary and paranoid but not full on afraid. Used to be afraid of the dark for a while when i was a kid but grew out of it as time went on.
