When I see the Kiwi invaders coming, I'm moving to Mexico. Which is (a) a long way from NZ, and (b) has the most favourable ratio of nubile women to nubile men.
Piffle, there nothing more beautiful than a well constructed and maintained rolling maul. The fact the NZers can keep it up for 24 hours at a stretch merely confirms their status as super-power in waiting.

The next superpower will probably be India as China is limiting its population while India is not.
Yes, but China has a massive economy, and was the only world nation that was left pretty much unaffected by the recession.
Australia did OK. Because of theexcellent economic management of the Rudcoal we sell to China.
Let me tell you, we're proud of that. It's not like we're burning it ourselves, right?India, on the other hand, is a very poor country, and cannot afford to pay for all it's citizens. That is why China is controlling the population.

Maybe I'm a homophobe. But lying in the mud with thirty muscular blokes leg-humping each other on top of me hardly seems preferable, as a way to go out.

You're thinking of a rook. Everyone is stood up leg-humping in a maul.

Yet another reason NZ will be the next superpower, they have leg slapping followed by leg humping and in public.

At least in the Medical world. If they help in eradicating smallpox, then why not keep up the work to eradicate polio?

Like any intelligent nation, they are expanding peaceful use of nuclear power.
Brazil is on an upward curve. They have enormous resources. They are strong in industry and agriculture; unlike the US, they actually make things people want to buy.
Former forestland in the Amazon which has been cleared and diverted to pasturage has been show to release more oxygen and less carbon dioxide than the forest.
Good harbors, and constantly improving transportation.
Improving education.
Support from Japan which reminds me of America's relations with France from 1777 through the Victorian age.

Yes, no one wants to buy our crap, which is why we have the highest industrial output in the world. But people have mentioned Brazil.Former forestland in the Amazon which has been cleared and diverted to pasturage has been show to release more oxygen and less carbon dioxide than the forest.

Its quite the mismatch culturally though, and I doubt we'll see a major shift to Brazil before China, long term Brazil has more potential than China, imo- looking at 100+ year range. Right now their education is pretty abysmal, which is a major barrier to superpower status.

Our figures tend to confuse exploitation of resources with industry.
We get credited with industrial production because of oil, much of which is SHell (Dutch) and BP (English). These don't emlpoy many US workers nor should they constitute "industry".
We also have automated coal mines tearing the tops off mountains, and agribusiness which employs immigrant labor while swallowing up family farms. These "industries" are here to exploit and ship our resources while impoverishing our citizens.
Compare Africa selling off gold and hardwoods to China.
Or even Latin America's bananas and coffee.
We look like a third world country.
For industry, we should look at value affef, what do we actually create, and value to, and sell?
Certainly not as much as Korea or Japan.
