You’ve been effectively framed for murder and you’re now on trial.
The evidence against you is largely circumstantial but you get the feeling that the judge and the jury don’t like you.
Your lawyers need to discuss with you, whether or not you should take the stand. If you take the stand, there is a possibility the jury could see that you are in fact innocent and your lawyers could work with you in the examination to tell your side in a more personalized way. However, the prosecution will also get to try and destroy you in cross examination; literally everything you’ve ever said, done, or written is potentially fair game and even if objected to successfully… it’s not like the jury can magically unhear.
Your lawyers advise against it (they think the prosecution will make you look bad over 9-10 days and they’ve seen this backfire a lot). They think it’s best to keep you out of it. You are not necessarily reassured.
