It's lights out and away we go! Well, from as far as I can see, this forum was lacking in an F1 discussion space, so I made one! Here is what's being discussed when this forum was made on the 19th September 2021! (PS: You can discuss topics when they arise, such as practice, quali or race events or off track news such as regulation changes, driver transfers and rumours.)
McLaren Madness at Monza!
After almost 9 years of waiting, McLaren finally get another win, and they do it in style! It was a one-two after the race, with Ricciardo winning and Lando in 2nd. The McLaren team has undergone a big restructuring since 2018, and this race was a big moment in the rise of one of the longest standing names in the sport. Another big event this weekend was Verstappen and Hamilton colliding into the opening chicane, with many pointing the blame on Verstappen, including the FIA who has given him a three place grid penalty for the upcoming Russian GP. The race for the championship is all to play for, with Verstappen leading Hamilton by 5 points.
Driver Transfers!
Transfer talk is hot this time of year, and we've seen a lot of it already! Valtteri Bottas has been confirmed to replace the retiring Kimi Raikönnen, with George Russell of Williams's replacing him at Mercedes. Alex Albon will be his replacement at Williams. The only other unconfirmed driver at the moment is Antonio Giovinazzi, who is expected to resign, but names such as Nico Hulkenberg and Nick De Vries are circulating as possible replacements.
2022 Car Regulation Changes,
Big changes to car specifications are expected to come in 2022, with a bit focus on reducing the amount of dirty air a car makes and eliminating the amount of loopholes a team can find to exploit the rules, which should lead to much closer and unpredictable racing and an opportunity for smaller teams to upset the more established teams.
