And yet Republicans in Congress don’t care. They refused to convict Trump for inciting a riot because they are too afraid of their rapid base and primary challengers. They should have done the right thing and convicted him and told their base to take a hike and effectively said We don’t want your vote if you support an insurrectionist.

But then they’d lose a good amount of their power with shunning most of their voter base, so hell has a better chance of freezing over than the GOP willingly shooting themselves in the foot.

I just keep thinking maybe the answer is to convince the right-wing nutjobs that every billionaire is a member of the lizardpeople-pizzagate-microchip-communist-Islamic-Epstein-BLM-Venezuela-Biden conspiracy.

I mean think about it, they'd go out and wage the class war, they would assume all the risk. It's brilliant.

Are they trying to say that people who want vaccine mandates are Nazis?

That is the most charitable way I can interpret that.

Reminds me of the episode of the Simpsons where George Bush makes a "Two Bad Neighbors" sign meaning Bart and Homer but has it on his own house.

I guess George Washington is a Nazi, on account of ordering the inoculation of Continental Army soldiers against smallpox.

On the other hand, if you criticize our Founding Fathers you are an anti-American historical revisionist.

I guess you could argue that it trivializes what occurred during the Holocaust. It's definitely offensive, but I don't know if it rises to the level of antisemitism.

This happens often in contemporary politics when XYZ thing is compared to the Nazis or fascism in general. If the other times it's not antisemitic, than I fail to see how it is now other than people hyperventilating. I think I've lost count as to how many times Israel has been compared to Nazi Germany or how opposition to XYZ social movement is Nazi tier. It's a stupid movement and stupid comparison for sure but calling it antisemitic is laughable.

Stopped clock he is right on it not being antisemitic. It is engaging in Reductio ad Hitlerum and is comparing Democrats and people advocating vaccinations to Nazis, rather than saying that Nazism is good. So no, not antisemitic, just very idiotic and absurd.

Claiming it is antisemitic is also a stupid statement as it is an obvious failure to grasp what it is trying to say. Don't just jump to conclusions just because you see a swastika, as comparing the Democrats to Hitler is not a new GOP talking point and they're kind of hoping you'd do that.

Antivaxxers drawing Holocaust comparisons to their own struggle is considered anti-Semitic in the sense of trivializing the deaths of millions of Jews, not in the sense that it’s directly caricaturing them— like how you could imagine a Black person might take offense if I compared my having to work a desk job I didn’t really like to the Atlantic slave trade, or an Indian might be sort of peeved if I compared having to skip lunch for a meeting one day to the Bengal famine

if you’d prefer you can call it anti-Roma or anti-Slavic or ableist or homophobic or whatever but like… however you slice it, pretty cringe to actually make that and think you’re doing something

It's obvious. They're vaccine needles in that image put into that shape. Republicans don't tend to like the vaccine so it is obvious that it is being mocked.

Maybe, but the point isn't to promote antisemitism, but rather convey their own deluded alternative to reality. It can be offensive, but it should not be considered anywhere on par with an unironic swastika.

Hmmm. Few are going to agree with you. It's like having something incorporating the Klan hood and arguing it isn't about racism.

Part of using such imagery gets you the labels and in many cases very justified.

antisemitic it ain't

at worst, antivaxxers can be accused of losing their sense of proportion -- and much else -- by being in thrall to those who want them agitated till they're dead or incapacitated

that this is a man in power peddling bullshit like this, though...

... another reason why republicans must be removed from power

Well it doesn't help that there's a lot of overlap between antivaxxers and the far right Trumpers, which often includes antisemitism. How much do you want to bet an antivaxxer that agrees with the message of that poster has blamed something on "the jews" at one point or another?

I don't care how many people agree or disagree with me because the majority isn't always right. Plus, incorporation of things like the Klan hood or the Confederate flag is often done unironically, which is certainly with a racist intent. This on the other hand is deluding oneself or at least his base into thinking that their opponents are like Nazis for wanting them to take the vaccine. A very different (albeit idiotic) usage of the symbol and not only that, you're getting outraged instead of pointing out how stupid it would be to think any of us here are on par with Nazis. It's failure to address the idiotic claim and engaging in fake outrage to boot.
