Way back in primary school I remember being told that the Black Death lead to a crisis of corruption in the Catholic Church. What supposedly happened was that all the good priests went to minister to the sick and dying and of course got the plague and died, leaving only the bad priests, who became bad bishops and bad cardinals and bad popes and ultimately caused the Reformation. I don't know how historically accurate this is, but it made logical sense.

So I wonder if the modern plague will lead to a crisis in conservatism, as the "good" conservatives die of covid to own the libs, leaving nothing but vaccinated grifters who want nothing from this political movement but to line their own pockets. Won't be long now before Crowder and Reuben and Shapiro are the venerable elder "statesmen" of the American right.
