Will Quantum Computing screw us all over?

Postby Trivalve » Wed Sep 08, 2021 3:04 am

With Quantum Computing coming closer to existence and Its ability to crack any code or encryption in milliseconds, do you believe that Quantum Computing will be responsible for ruining millions of peoples life and possibly ending humanity?

The problem is that as a race we've shared all the information necessary for AI or aliens to wipe us out easily already.

We're like rabbits with loudspeakers unaware there's lions all around us.

To keep it short and sweet and personal - it will, but hopefully not the end of the world. We are adaptable creatures, for the most part. If Quantum Computing became mainstream, you bet that we are going to make it as secure as possible.

We didn't have that privilege when silicon computers became a thing, because no one thought that Internet would be a thing, or that we would get hacked. Now we know, so hopefully by the time they roll out, we should have a more or less robust security method to go along with it.

As for the current and past generations of computers, tough break. They would have ran their course, and unless it's for offline operation or for a secure infrastructure, they are going to be outpaced by the new breed of machines.
