Politicians make the law. And politicians, as we all know, have nothing to do with politics.

I don't see what is political regarding just about every country moving on dropping masks and other measures.

There’s nothing quantitatively that different in re the Covid situation compared to six months ago. The restrictions are being dropped because they are unpopular, not because we “won” or anything. It’s a result of people worrying about losing elections, in other words, and therefore pretty political.

Probably should have some sort of inquiry into the whole affair though. (Never happen).

What is so oppressive about cloth over your face that you would rather let the virus run rampant than be subjected to it?

Because the rationale for everyone wearing is quite simple:

Facial communication is part of being human.

Are you suggesting we have mask mandates henceforth over one virus?

Until we manage to get it to an acceptable level - we don't have mask mandates for the flu so I'd happily suggest we can stop masking once we get COVID to manageable flu-like levels of infection and death; which is possible to do if we seriously aimed to do so.

They're politicians who are making laws and there's an election looming on the horizon. It's nothing but political. The science suggests the pandemic isn't over and the data suggests measures such as social distancing and mask wearing work, so the decision must be political since it's certainly not rooted in science or any sense of obligation to protect the lives of their constituents.



Some of them might be, but no - most of them are something worse than stupid: They know what they're doing, they know the harm it will cause, they're deliberately being neglectful.



For once, I actually think Broadway has the right idea here. And that's saying a lot knowing how I feel normally about Broadway.

Its not political. Its seeing the need to move on and accept it as part of life. Experts don't make law. Experts aren't elected.

Experts are supposed to be tapped to advise politicians, however, since politicians cannot know things as well as experts who've been trained, educated, and worked for years in a field can. It's a good thing experts aren't elected, they can be blunt about what needs to be done because they don't have to cater to some sense of needing to be the popular kid for when November comes around.

Politicians make decisions that are politically motivated because, uh, they're politicians. I don't know why you've picked such an erroneous hill to die on.

This is an absolutely silly comment but I didn't expect you to come out against capacity limits. I'd recommend we don't stop at COVID-related capacity limits, what right does any fire marshal have to tell me my restaurant can only safely accommodate 150 customers or that my bar can only accommodate 400 people packed inside. They're un-elected and I don't give a damn if they're experts, my restaurant or bar could make more profit if I packed customers in like sardines.

Honestly, when going on public transportation or using a plane, I plan to continue to wear masks. Same for if I get sick. I would support that being a part of our culture.

Perhaps they dont want to give up years of their lives for something for something might not work and for something that only works if every country acts perfectly in sync.
