Very early doors, on March 15, 2020, Lumen said we were overreacted. Looking at New York's response, the only things that had happened before that day? State of emergency was declared March 7th, Cuomo ordered a containment zone in New Rochelle, NY on March 10th, all SUNY campuses ordered to close on March 12th, all gatherings of less than 500 ordered to cut capacity in half on March 12th while all gatherings over 500 people ordered to cancel. All NYC schools ordered to close until April 20th on March 15th.

New York has had 2.3 million cases and just over 54,000 deaths. 1.04 million/33,895 of those being in New York City. And that's despite the measures to stop the spread of the virus and keep the hospitals from being overwhelmed.

Just for reference, a pile of 54,000 human skulls would be approximately 12m tall, about 40ft. Just an interesting visualisation people might want to consider.

Ah, but surely we overreacted. I mean, who wants to save lives?

Except when those people who aren't vaccinated/aren't wearing masks/aren't social distancing are out and about spreading the virus to other people - who may be following guidelines and being safe as possible in public when they need to go out - it becomes a public health issue, not a personal one.

Indeed, all health decisions related to COVID-19 should be a personal choice. It is truly up to the individual, and the government has no right to keep me locked inside my home or show proof of vaccinations to businesses (the business themselves do though).

I'm not sure we're ever going to see 99 % vaccination rates, even if it becomes very difficult to live life well without a vaccine.

I hope not. Even if that gets in the way of you going to the theater and indulging in your creepy obsession with staring at strangers' mouths.

This is what you wanted to happen in March.

Its like we have said this countless times.

Anyway, why is wearing a mask so bad? You have not given any real answer for it.

It’s unlikely you’ll reach that number anywhere. Facial communication is part of being human.

Guess I'm an alien then, since I've gotten on perfectly fine without having to see people's mouths.

Guess pretty much everyone on the internet are part-alien too. No facial communication there unless you're on a video call.

For something that's "part of being human", it's quite odd that we developed entire systems of communication that fundamentally can't have facial communication and used them fairly well for years and years, even before we decided to bring in masks. For something supposedly fundamental to being human, we've done awfully well without it and have made an awful number of ways to communicate without it.

And if it happens it will ironically not be because of the efforts of people like you, but despite the efforts of people like you.

Indeed, all health decisions related to COVID-19 should be a personal choice. It is truly up to the individual, and the government has no right to keep me locked inside my home or show proof of vaccinations to businesses (the business themselves do though).

Why ? What is the point of a society if it is not allowed to protect its members ?
Getting an education was a bit like a communicable sexual disease.
It made you unsuitable for a lot of jobs and then you had the urge to pass it on.

Because selfish people hate the idea of having to give a shit about other people.
