Oh believe me, I don't think Westerners are connoisseurs of movie taste, but the Chinese market has helped keep a lot of terrible crap afloat, like Michael Bay's Transformers franchise.

Two wrongs do not make a right. They never have. As much as I think most Western movies made in the past 3-5 years are garbage, banning them will not correct their failure. It will only validate them.

At this point, what is the difference between China and North Korea/Taliban? Besides the obvious statements that China is larger and richer? Their censorship and authoritarianism is nearly identical. Even Russia would not stoop this low despite banning criticism of the USSR.

North Korea is a good model and has been very successful despite the obstacle of Western imperialism. I do not see how this is a negative comparison.

As a huge Genshin Impact fan, I am extremely concerned about my favorite game. I wonder if China will kill their golden goose by banning most types of anime and games (Genshin Impact, Honkai Impact, any imported Shounen series, etc.). Or will MiHoYo overcome their failures and outsource Genshin and Honkai to Japan?

(Yes, I know I am obsessed with Genshin. I can explain. I had a very sad and chaotic time in my life around 6 months ago. This resulted in many major changes in my life for the better. I am doing far better now, but I had to leave most of my old life behind. During the worst of it, I felt almost completely anhedonic and struggled to enjoy anything. I made positive changes and got my life back on track. During those changes, I delved into Genshin Impact. I was drawn to its wonderful characters, intricate lore, basis on real cultures, and its tendency to recover to positivity and light even after addressing dark subject matter in its story. Since then, I have enjoyed Genshin like I have enjoyed Sailor Moon, Naruto, and Pokemon when I was a child. It is a series that has brought me a lot of positivity and enjoyment. My wish is for it to continue until the story ends.)

Sorry for saying, but I think that there are many better coping mechanisms than a cartoon game with scantily-clad children.
