There is a 90-100% chances that domestic phones created in China, (Not naming company names) probably have some sort of spyware pre-installed onto it, probably not just pre-installed by installed automatically with some sort of microchip hardware on their phones. I mean hell, if Tencent controls most of their social media platforms and media there is a chance that Tencent also controls their electronics manufacturing industry (actually tencent doesnt even need to be in the picture since most enterprises in China is state-owned)
What's that got to do with people playing for 12 hours average on games? All I was saying I had doubts the 12 hour gaming is really that severe, since people often run mobile games while working. And the games industry in china is heavily on the mobile gaming side of things.

In a statement that felt like the rules change ceremony in Wife Swap, the platform said it scrubbed the accounts to curb “irrational star-chasing behavior.”
The purge began Sunday, when Weibo banned a BTS fan club with 1.1 million followers from posting for 60 days after it crowdsourced a birthday gift for Jimin (the cutest BTS member, keep up).
According to Weibo, collecting donations to customize an airplane for your fav vocalist contributes to the “chaos of fan clubs” that China wants to quell.
Later that day, Weibo said it would ban a number of other celebrity accounts in an effort to “purify” its platform. It cited a government notice from last Thursday about banning “vulgar internet celebrities” and feminine-looking men on TV.
Big picture: China’s entertainment industry has recently had to confront spikes in online censorship as the government cracks down on internet culture, which it considers unhealthy. Just last week, China limited online video game playing to three hours a week for kids under 18. (MorningBrew)

Finally i am not a specialist in china to understand if such heavy handed response was necessary or not, but what happened has happened.

What possible reason do you have to care if there are men who behave femininely, in public or otherwise?

Holy crud, and here a few companies thought they could get away with using mobile (and technically new mobile games which are easy to crank out at a dime a dozen) to bypass the ban! That's... Actually amusing. In a cruel way.

I thought Tencent and China were tight, or something along that line? From Wikipedia: Offerings in China include the instant messengers Tencent QQ and WeChat, and one of the largest web portals, QQ.com. It also owns the majority of China's music services (Tencent Music), with more than 700 million active users and 120 million paying subscribers.
In short: Tencent is kinda like Hollywood for China, and even more.
Tencent is not going to be happy that their money-makers are getting compromised...
------
EDIT for fun fact: For the occasion of the 19th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party, Tencent released a mobile game titled "Clap for Xi Jinping: An Awesome Speech", in which players have 19 seconds to generate as many claps as possible for the party leader.

Well the CPP's not practicing socialism per se, it's practicing the "preliminary stage" named "socialist market economy", but obviously, it's just another name for state capitalism. Anyway, banning BTS or foreign artists is not really a feature of socialism, but instead of a regime pushing to increase nationalism in their nation.

It is getting more absurd. Why is China shooting its gaming industry in the foot when it is one of its main assets? I doubt if most of the youth will still be happy with how the CPP is tackling youth behaviors.
