Here are the preliminary results:
Independence Party: 19(+3)
Progressive Party: 11(+3)
Left-Green: 9(=)
People's Party: 7(+5)
Social Democratic Alliance: 6(-2)
Pirates: 6(-1)
Reform: 5(+1)
Center Party: 0(-9)

So the current government has enough seats to carry on.

Socialist Party didn't win any seats in the six constituencies, and with just 4.1% of the vote did not qualify for leveling seats (which have a threshold of 5%).

Still don't understand why the Left-Greens would form a coalition with the right, but in any case the former government has increased its majority and can keep on running.

Stability mainly, after 2008 everyone would rather see a functioning government more than anything. Regardless, I do think Katrín will remain PM since Bjarni has said he doesn’t want the position, but she will have to play towards him and Sigurdur now to keep the government. A couple of Independence MPs have said they want to oust her as PM, but that remains to be seen.
