The small scandal concerning the KrF-leader has grown, and it turns out he may have violated several laws and dodged taxes. His excuse is that he conferred with the Storting's Administration. However, it turns out they don't know the tax code - and he never talked to tax authorities.

It's a scandal which looks to have no consequences for the people involved, though it fuels anger and resentment in the populace against out-of-touch political elites who are enriching themselves at the expense of the tax payer. KrF has seen a small bump in recent polls, after the story broke; but several analysts are putting it down to the fact that people have been talking about KrF, reminding voters that the party still exists.

My hope for this election is that they end up under 4 %, and will be all but eradicated from Stortinget.

You're not the only one, 12% of eligible voters have done so so far, and FHI is encouraging more to do so

A record-breaking 40,8 % of eligible voters voted before the election days of Sunday and today.

I probably won't be here for the exit poll, got things to do today, but I'll definitely check in if that's the case.

I think I would either vote Liberal or Socialist Left, only the best for Norge anyways.

Exit poll time. Or, actually, early votes have been counted:

If these results hold, an AP-SP-SV coalition could be formed.

The communists of Rødt got 5%. That’s a surprise.

Seems like the populist wave in Europe is over and its shifting back to the left. Some have said Labor forming a government will be difficult. Why is that?

SP has indicated that they don’t want to work with the lefties of SV. They have stopped short of making any binding promises, but it’s clear there’s an ideological divide which might be difficult to bridge.

It gets even more complicated if the final results don’t allow for an outright AP-SV-SP majority government, because then they have to ask for the support of Rødt or the Greens of MDG. Rødt won’t join a government, but they will be demanding political payment which may be far from what SP - or even AP - can tolerate.

SV can also make demands that the government don’t seek support from the right, but that would leave the government with one hand tied behind its back, as AP and SP share quite a few policy positions with both H and V (and KrF).

It could get messy…

There's a party called PF that's projected to win one seat, with its electoral focus being keeping a small town hospital open.
In solidarity with Ukraine, I will be censoring the letters Z and V from my signature. This is -ery much so a big change, but it should be a -ery positi-e one. -olodymyr -elensky and A-o- continue to fight for Ukraine while the Russians are still trying to e-entually make their way to Kharki-, -apori-h-hia, and Kry-yi Rih, but that will take time as they are concentrated in areas like Bakhmut, -uledar, and other areas in Donetsk. We will see Shakhtar play in the Europa League but Dynamo Kyi- already got eliminated. Shakhtar managed to play well against Florentino Pere-'s Real Madrid who feature superstars like -inicius, Ben-ema, Car-ajal, and -al-erde. Some prominent Ukrainian players that got big transfers elsewhere include Oleksander -inchenko, Illya -abarnyi, and Mykhailo Mudryk.

No big movements, but the battle to stay over 4% continues for R, MDG, KrF and V. The decimal points mean a difference between 2-3 seats and 8-9 seats in parliament.

Looks like MDG won't make it into Parliament given current results.

Which are the left parties?

R - Rødt - are a coalition of communists and Marxists.

MDG is the Green Party, they’re on the left as well, but with an environmental focus rather than a purely ideological one.

They’ll get 3 seats instead of 8, if they don’t go above 4 %.

It’s complicated.

Im not following. I interpreted the battle for 4 percent as being the minimum to get seats.

It’s a common misconception, even among Norwegians.

It’s complicated, so I’ll let Wikipedia explain:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leveling_seat

Basically, the three seats I keep talking about are seats won outright in the electoral districts, and the other 5 are a bonus or reward for being popular enough to clear 4%. If you don’t clear 4% you don’t get the bonus, but you get to keep the seats you’ve won in the districts.

That (the bolded) is a fantastically hasty assumption, I say as a Swedish leftist.

You’re not wrong. In fact, SP, the arguable winner of this election, can be categorised as a populist party.

If SP had gotten a majority by themselves, we’d be invading Sweden by November to liberate Jemtland og Herjedalen ;)
