What is the best system to name people?

I mean, most modern governments already do this with ID numbers and all. Ever more reason to liberate people to take control of their name.

Our society will be totally different if our names are numbers and codes. That is also including movie names and the like.

Eh, what I meant is more like "the govt already view you as a string of numbers anyways and thus don't care about the naming business, so you might as well name your kid or yourself The Rock."

But yeah. Actually, we should allow people to include numeric characters in their names. Or any symbol that have an ASCII code assigned to it.

And I am not being stereotypical, and we even joked about it a lot that there are times when there are two (or even three) people with the same name in the room, and the tiebreaker is either their extended name, or the NRIC. The good ol' NRIC never fails.

I guess this is also a common problem in my country. The current security minister, Mahfud MD, got his name because there were three people whose name is exactly "Mohammad Mahfud" during his middle school.

So the teacher assigned them initials of their dad to differentiate between them. However, his teacher accidentally included the "MD" initial when drafting his middle school diploma. Apparently it's harder to request change to your diploma than to change your birth certificate, so the guy changed the latter and is officially known now as "Mohammad Mahfud MD".

Double barrel surnames! They can be fancy, and some lengthy names could encourage more....writing? I don't know what I'm thinking, maybe because they look cool, as I have one after all.

Honestly, I'm up for families creating their own surnames if they want, if they are willing to start a family. Technology and archival can help in the assistance of knowing who our past relatives are, as it probably was harder before. We now have DNA tests and stuff, in case sacrificing a surname during a marriage was probably likely to have that surname forgotten before.

We go by the Spanish version. [name] [second name (optional)] [mother's maiden name] [father's surname]. In official documents, we actually still use the Spanish way of typing it down which is [name] [second name (optional)] [father's surname] y [mother's maiden name].

Not a problem that affects me as such... I have a [first initial][second initial][surname]@gmail.com address... but that'd be a fantastic anecdote.
