A certain election was being held back before America had declared independence. The establishment was sure they would win despite their popularity. Local farmers fathered more people than was expected to turn up at the town hall to vote. In an attempt to change the results, Quakers were barred from voting because they would not swear on the Bible; it violated their religious beliefs. It didn't change the outcome of the election (the farmers won) but it demonstrates that some will use any & all ways possible to stop groups they oppose from voting. I oppose a test from a moral standpoint because I believe in popular & national sovereignty; that the government has power only because it has the consent of the governed.

well ideally no one should be allowed to be vote at all, just let religious and military leaders govern society.

Military yes, religious? Hell fucking no

In the context of our relationships with other people, acting upon them in a way that is not morally good or conducive to it.
If it's anything potentially harmful physically or psychologically if done wrong, well, then you should not only ban "sodomy" but about all kind of human activity.

Sounds good.

Then we reaffirm the Bill of Rights and make a new bill of positive liberties, guaranteeing food, water, housing, utilities, health care, and education as inalienable rights.

Also good.

The next thing I would do is take away most of the President's war powers. Warfare would be redefined to include drone and air strike campaigns and boots on the ground in an advisory role.

Absolutely terrible idea and a stupid one a that.

The President would only be empowered to command the military in the event of an attack or an imminent attack, and then Congress would have to vote on whether to proceed.

This is even dumber than the one before it.

Then automatic voter registration and mail ballots sent to the addresses of every US citizen 16 years old older.

Not terrible but 16 is too young. And most 16 year old would just be voice for their parents.

Then an amendment that actions that do not cause direct harm to others cannot be criminalized.

Way too broad.

Then a mandate to create a post-policing America in which armed officers are held in reserve only in the case of emergencies and arrest is only an option if the crime cannot be settled through mediation or offering aid.

Interesting.

Also pitbull bans are unconstitutional, also male genital mutilation is prohibited, also no HOA's ever again.

Hard agree

Ok but how? How is it morally harmful and who put you in charge to decide that? And you didn’t even answer why it’s your business what I do with another man consensually.

"The Barons of England demanded the Security of Law for Themselves, the Patriots of America proclaimed the Security and Protection for All. All men are equal before the Law. No matter upon what spot of the Earth's surface they were born; no matter whether an Asiatic or African, a European or an American Sun first burned upon them; no matter whether citizens or strangers, no matter whether rich or poor, no matter whether wise or simple, no matter whether strong or weak, this new Magna Carta to Mankind declares the rights of All to Life and Liberty and Property are Equal Before the Law."

The American GOP is, at the end of the day, a liberal party. Political parties which concede to the near-global concensus of political liberalism are not grounding themselves to be stable forever.

What is morally wrong in giving and receiving pleasure to/from someone you love ? That's about as "morally good" as anything can be. Trying to prevent people from expressing their love for each other, to prevent them from making loved ones feel good, is what is morally wrong.

Well, everything is relative. Compared to someone who want to turn USA into a Christian version of Saudi Arabia or Iran, with the government controlling what consenting adults do in their bedroom, the GOP is somewhat "liberal", because it "only" wants to allow torture of gay children with "conversion therapies", have them bullied and deny them equal rights, but doesn't want to actively oppress them (at least, not openly). But that's like saying someone is "less genocidal than Hitler", it doesn't say much.

It is not part of the vedas, itihasa, puranas, or any dharmashastra. It is an outside text written in sanskrit which violates every other Hindu scripture, including the vedas and dharmashastras like the manusmriti. You are not even a Hindu, you just googled "dinduism LGBT" and read neo-hindu reformists on the internet.

There is no such thing as "third gender gods" in Hindu dharma. Reincarnating as someone else in a different life does not validate transgender ideology. You absolute nincompoop.

The Kama Sutra is one of the oldest surviving Hindu texts on erotic love. No, I am not a Hindu, but based on my understanding of Hindu culture, the nation of India, and the complexities that come from within one of the largest major religions on the planet and its connections to the largest democracy on the planet, while it is technically not wrong based on certain Hindu texts to be a homosexual, it is widely considered to be a wrong among practicing Hindus and Indians alike. Much opposition comes from tradition rather than from the texts themselves. Even the likes of Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., and FDR were opposed to homosexual rights, largely because that was the kind of culture that they grew up in.

I don't mean this in any flame-worthy capacity at all, but consider who you're preaching to. Unless you have a deeper understanding of the Sutras than an actual Hindu from India, don't talk as if you have greater academic authority over his own religion than he does.

And come on man, sure you might disagree with him ideologically, but there's no reason to kick him while he's down. Let his 3-day ban pass, and then you two can get back to butting heads.
