It doesn't even matter whether parenting licenses are a good or bad idea or not because there is no kind of enforcement that wouldn't be disastrous. How do you deal with unlicensed parenting?

- Take the kid away. The foster care system is already overburdened without millions of extra kids taken from unlicensed parents. Forget bringing back orphanages, we're skipping right to child concentration camps. And you could put all the money and effort you want into making them nice places, doesn't matter, you will never be able to provide the resources and attention those kids require for healthy development.

- Put the unlicensed parents in jail. See above.

- Fine unlicensed parents. Thing is, most people don't have that much money to begin with and the kids need food, clothes, and a whole lot of other stuff, so the state would have to provide for them. But if you have parents paying fines to the state and the state paying for their kids' needs, you just have a circular money flow but with a costly bureaucracy to go along with it.

There are some policies that however good or bad in theory they may be, enforcing those policies is stupid.

The government shouldn't have that kind of power over people. Not to mention, that this sort of licensing would be harsher for people of lower economic status, and be an excellent tool for ethnic cleansing and genocide.

The problem is that its not all that hard for people to reproduce, assuming they're not sterile and can find someone of the opposite sex. People intuitively know how to have sex or figure it out on their own. And some societies that're at sub-replacement level fertility sort of need at least some people to still have kids at some point for that society to continue. It already is too unappealing or too expensive for many people to even have kids these days. It sets back your career/economic prospects and disrupts your home life at minimum.

Its probably not possible because its a problem to some extent everywhere, especially if the world population is already close to the planet's carrying capacity, which is around 10 billion people. Children in general just cost money in terms of food, housing, education, and etc. And require day care if the mother or someone else in the family can't look after them if they legally have to be safe guarded.

Businesses and no one else, really want to pay for childcare, much less maternity or paternity leave. It means someone is working less than they otherwise could, which is bad for the bottom line of the owner class or executives.

I strongly agree the government can misuse its authority if we have Parenting Licenses, this is a general conservative, Republican, right wing view Point. They can't take and should not take kids away from parents based on they might abuse and neglect them, because they might not be abusing them and neglecting them.
