Thing is, unless the government cares for all historical sites, enforcement isn't going to be as effective as possible, as it promotes the "if you don't care about my historical site, why should I give a fuck about yours?" mentality.

It’s also not true at all. Building a mosque was always difficult in France and recently it’s only gotten harder.

I found this website which does a decent job of trying to catalogue them. It looks like it goes as far back as December 2016. I don't think there are 108 documented instances of vandalism/arson to the level of destroying a religious building.

(If you are curious how I reached 108, there is 1621 days between today (BST) and the 1st December 2016. 1621 divided by 15 is a little over 108)

But this gentleman is also including "demolitions and transformations" in his numbers, which would not imply malice per se. He also includes collapse, which also would not imply malice, but rather neglect.

The original source talks about 15000 odd active Catholic sites in France in total. Last December there were apparently 2623 mosques in France. Assuming a rate of one less active Catholic site through malicious and non-malicious means and one more mosque per 15 days, then the number of mosques will overtake the declining number of active catholic sites somewhere in 2275.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'd rather hope we would outgrow quaint notions of sky fairies by that time.

LGBTQ people can be religious too. You may want to stop categorising them by one innate characteristic only.

Religion: enriches the world with rules on how to live in harmony with one another

Politicians like Trump: abuse religion to further secular goals and self-promotion

Anti-theists: judge every religious person by the behaviour of not particularly religious men like Trump

Actually religious people: point out the flaw in that comparison, and suggest a more respectful way to discuss the difference of opinion

Anti-theists: accuse religious people of ignorance and pride, missing a giant case of projection.

I would doubt it as well,
while i don't want to go through all of their examples, and this isn't the usual rigor I'd like to use, a quick eyeball at their map puts it at around 26 incidents of arson
i almost certainly undercounted, but that's a sufficient margin to where I feel comfortable saying that 108 number isn't based in reality
