Attempting to stop the bleeding we caused by pulling out. Leaving the Taliban in was far better than waging war for the last 20 years, killing over 250,000 civilians in a useless war.

Well. My old boss was one those people. Wonderful man and the best boss I had for 20 years. Followed him through three companies. He came here with nothing (didn’t even speak the language) and retired wealthy. He is a rags to riches story. His daughters went on to do bigger things. One has already retired (at 24) and is going into music. The other is heading into medicine and is at one of the great universities. My boss was so good at his job (it manager/director) he could ask for out of budget requests and the companies said well if you think we need it then we do…..

1. Taliban didn't cause 9/11, Al Qaeda did, the Taliban took in Al Qaeda as guests to hide out from the US. Also, Afghanistan isn't the only country the Taliban operate in as Pakistan is their main funder, where Osama went hiding, and they control most of Pakistani Pashtunistan. (Yeah, part of why Pakistan is so fond of the Taliban is because they keep Afghanistan in chaos so Afghanistan doesn't bug Pakistan about the 1/3 of Pashtunistan it "Controls", as well as keeping Afghanistan on India's bad side)
2. Not a generation, Taliban control in the nation only lasted ~2-4 years.
3. I do agree that leaving military installations was a bad idea though, as those things are important, but this war wasn't gonna end. The Taliban would just escape and regroup in Pakistan, receive more aid from them, and then try again, same shit they've been doing for 20 years.
