I can understand the deputy losing his cool when dispatch radios in to say what basically amounts to "you just gave a guy a ride home so he could commit domestic abuse", the part that makes no sense to me is why dispatch logged the call as a domestic abuse report in the first place.

He was still on the phone with the dispatcher when he was shot.

Now, I'm not an armed criminal or domestic abuser, but I sure as hell wouldn't remain on call with the dispatcher if i knew I had committed a crime, or was in the process of committing a crime.

It's actually fairly normal in a lot of places if you have a breakdown or something, if a cop comes by they'll usually offer to help. I've even had that happen before, only difference is they usually don't come back and shoot you.

Also fairly normal if like you are stuck in a bad part of town or just feel unsafe in-general.

I've been trying to make sense of this story for several minutes and it just is utterly baffling. Need to release the camera footage and 911 call so we can have any idea what even the timeline of events was.

They said they could not immediately comment on “any motive or circumstances” related to the shooting. Investigative findings will be turned over to a special prosecutor for review.

They probably aren't. Sleep deprivation is a big problem in many areas of society, and I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of cops are too macho to admit when they're burnt out.

Of course, that still doesn't make it OK to shoot a guy that wasn't committing a crime.

This is the sort of things that need to be talked about more, this is an unjust police brutality but currently, I don’t know if this person did anything in the past to warrant this. Currently however, I think this man/ woman deserves to be fired from there job. Absolutely appalling.

This is probably my biggest takeaway yeah. I've never understood police shooting someone who has a knife or gun to themselves.
