I don't think the Tyre Extinguishers are good PR though.
I don't think the way electricity is generated is a "supply side" issue either - you as the consumer help to dictate how much energy the system needs to provide.
The internet consumes a surprising amount of energy, the most interesting example is the Republic of Ireland where datacentres account for 14% of electricity consumption. I'm not an expert but I understand about 10% of the internet is NSFW material, so I'm tempted to say that 1.4% of the RoI's energy consumption is purely for the storage and supply of Europe's porn. It's up to consumers to download that material, and whether or not they view it in UHD.

At work and at conferences I have heard the old rule of thumb that 70% of electricity is used by motors is tending towards 30% to 50% as more datacentres get built and other numeric devices are installed.
Another interesting article about IT energy consumption:

Fractal shiteness. Shite at every possible resolution.
Resolution 1: Rishi is telling the truth. He's a mega-cuck. He's a chancellor who wanted to raise benefits but then the computer wouldn't let him so he's like "okay.jpeg" instead of immediately calling in the IT guy to give him a bollocking and calling for an immediate overhaul of the system. Instead he goes on TV to be like "Sorry guys the computer won't let me UwU."
Resolution 2: Rishi is lying. He thinks you're thick as shit and will fall for this.
Resolution 3: Rishi is lying. He doesn't know how computers work.
Resolution 4: Rishi is lying. He doesn't want to raise benefits but doesn't want to take responsibility for not doing so because he's self-aware it's an awful thing to do.
Resolution 5: Rishi is lying.
EDIT: And ofcourse former chancellors and IT experts are coming out to point out he's a lying sack of shit and the system doesn't work like that.

The politician resigned after he was caught watching porn twice in the House of Commons.
The ex-Tory MP became the focus of both outrage and ridicule when it emerged he had brazenly watched it in the chamber, causing female colleagues to complain.
Mr Parish later said he had accidentally viewed it in the first instance, while searching for tractors on his phone, before later accessing it deliberately.
He resigned his seat in Tiverton and Honiton in South West England after initially looking like he would try to fight on, and admitted he was a "f***ing idiot".
But he is now considering running as an independent in the upcoming by-election triggered by his own resignation, pitting himself against any Tory candidate who stands.
"It is an option for me and one that I could consider," he told the Telegraph.
"The only thing that may well stop me is the fact that my local party, my local activists, my local councillors, are friends. I don't know if I want to do that to them.
"Some of the hierarchy of my own party, I suppose I wouldn't have the same problem with doing it. At the moment, I'm taking soundings."
Lmao, endorsed by the thicc tractor appreciation associationHe went on: "I've got some sort of quite powerful backers within the farming community... If I stood, it wouldn't be a problem in raising the money. The farming community realised how I fought their corner."

Sometimes out of the blue there exists a spark of hope that the UK isn’t absolutely slatted to head down the path of pure darkness.

Yes, yes, certain external problems have occurred, but at this level? No, the Tories will never tax the rich to help the poor. They would rather allow us to suffer.

What on earth has taxing rich people got to do with market prices for food?

There was a lot about the rising price of food in my weekend paper (sadly I put it in the recycling this morning). Off the top of my head it said about 1.1M people in the UK are predicted to starve at least part of the time.
I think it's a sad situation but it highlights what I understand is a bit of a paradox - we expect cheap food and also have increasingly high expectations for animal welfare, fair trade, organic and sustainable stuff. Will the UK on the whole sacrifice its principles for cheaper food?
I know at least one farmer who has bought no fertiliser this year.

To be perfectly honest I've long thought that as Tory leader the more hated you are after you've left office by a certain subset of the left wing the better the job you did. And for that subset of the left wing of course they are still pissed off because 40 years ago she completely changed the direction of travel for this country and we are still living with an economy and society largely built on those principles. The day people stop hating her is the day I'll start to worry because it will probably mean her legacy has been neutralised.
