And for people who did vote labour, Starmer is cited at 1% as the reason why

There are a bunch more graphs in that post for Labour voters from 2019 who went to other parties (Starmer's leadership is second as to why they jumped ship) and for people who voted for other parties like Lib Dems etc

It's the seat of Plaid's leader too, Labour doing better in Wales than elsewhere for sure.

ask moderation about reading serious moderation candidates TGs without telling them about it until afterwards and/or apparently refusing to confirm/deny the exact timeline of TG reading ~~~ i hope you never sent any of the recent mods or the ones that got really close anything personal!

signature edit: confirmation has been received. they will explicitly do it before and without asking. they can look at TGs basically whenever they want so please keep this in mind when nominating people for moderator or TGing good posters/anyone!

Id say its probably a factor for some people but maybe not to the extent people like Ostro think it does.

Conservatives gained Brecon & Radnorshire from the Lib Dems.

Lib Dem vote share fell by 24% where as the Con vote share increased by 14.3%. Labour gained 6.3%

That was the only Lib Dem member of the Senedd.

I suspect that the people who didn't vote for Labour because of 'wokeness' probably use an older term like 'PC brigade'.

Yes - though that's because they weren't eligible for a top-up seat on the basis of the combination of winning a constituency seat won and their overall share of the vote. There's a slim chance that they might win a top-up seat this time having now lost Brecon (a loss which was expected).

That said, it's been a very poor night for the LibDems in Wales; a tradition of Welsh liberalism stretching back to Gladstone seems to be on life support and in danger of having the plug pulled.

Personally I blame Lembit Opik (semi-seriously).

Mostly this. There's the fields of "Do not agree with policy" "Generally opposed" and "Do not share my values" which also cover this section.

There is an out of control trolley speeding towards Jeremy Bentham, who is tied to the track. You can pull the lever to cause the trolley to switch tracks, but on the other track is Immanuel Kant. Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.

Separately, Mr Salmond has conceded that Alba are unlikely to win any seats in the list vote.

I'll see if I can find a reliable link to the video of this.

So what do we reckon the likelihoods are for an SNP majority in Scotland and a Labour Majority in Wales?

The BBC has published its projected national share. What this means is that the number-crunchers have, using results from the English local elections, worked out what percentage of the vote the parties would have run had this been a general election.

The results put the Conservatives on 36%, Labour on 29% and the Liberal Democrats on 17% - with the remaining parties on 18%.

Polling expert Sir John Curtice says the results show Labour has made some progress since the 2019 general election but "it is more like the progress of a snail, rather than a hare".

I don't follow Wales closely enough to offer an opinion there, but with Labour holding Dumbarton in Scotland (with an increased and surprisingly comfortable majority), it's likely now near-impossible for the SNP to win a majority after list seats are distributed.

However, with the Greens almost certainly taking advantage of Alex Salmond helpfully pointing out how to increase the number of pro-independence MSPs by voting differently in the list vote (even if he didn't intend for the Greens to be the party that benefits), there will probably be a slightly increased overall majority of pro-independence MSPs due to a rise in Green list MSPs.
