Of course, this is all totally useless speculation, because even the IDF hasn't spoken up about what prompted the strike.
EDIT: Also I went by The Independent report on the hospital strike for latest civilian casualties.
This is a quote from an article regarding the past experiences of an AP reporter in Gaza during the past conflicts.
"Cameramen waiting outside Shifa Hospital in Gaza City would film the arrival of civilian casualties and then, at a signal from an official, turn off their cameras when wounded and dead fighters came in, helping Hamas maintain the illusion that only civilians were dying. (This too happened; the information comes from multiple sources with firsthand knowledge of these incidents.)"
Funny the same hospital stuck was the same one sources say in the past conflicts have treated Hamas fighters. Note that this is a Hamas operated hospital as well. Everyone working there knew the risks.

Israel's been bombing Palestine for decades, but when anyone shoots back all the sudden it's an unprovoked act of terrorism.
Didn't Hamas fire first? Israel only launched retaliation strikes after the Hamas attack.
It isn't their fault their attacks are more effective.
Notably Hamas is firing rockets, not missiles. Rockets are unguided and will hit anywhere.
Modern missiles such as those fired by Israel are precise and hit what they intend to hit.

After his magically healing brain hemorrhage, it wouldn't surprise me.
But then he does see Antifa behind every bin and in every shadow.

Abolitionism in the North has leagued itself with Radical Democracy, and so the Slave Power was forced to ally itself with the Money Power; that is the great fact of the age.

Hm yes. Sure, I’d agree with that. But given military operations were ongoing, what makes you think that the Israelis aren’t attempting to avoid civilian casualties in that context?

You went off of The Independent which got its numbers from the Gaza health ministry.
"Israeli strikes on Gaza have damaged health facilities, killed two prominent Palestinian doctors, and destroyed roads around the strip’s largest hospital, Gaza health officials and international rights groups have claimed."
"The latest bombardment was so intense, it has impacted the ability of medics to treat the wounded, health officials added."
