i believe the most great peace is a day that will indeed come.
probably not from anyones good intentions.
possibly from so crippling ourselves by crippling our environment we will no longer be able to do anything else.
or on the other hand, a general up-wising, recognizing how dumb we've been to live in scare city.
truth isn't what i say. isn't what you say. isn't what anybody says. truth is what is there, when no one is saying anything.

Well, the crew was detained but quickly released and the plane was taken apart to be studied before it was returned to the US, but otherwise you got it right.

I believe in World Peace, but only under Anarchism. The State is the main cause for war, with its 'Nationalism' and Systems of Control. And only by an Anarchist system can war be fully eliminated.

But greed keeps people in power so that's why your suggestion is impossible

actually in a way most Western countries are no longer really represented by their political leaders, they just happen to be a figurehead, the majority of decisions relies on their populations, so in a way we are slowly progressing toward anarchy, just without all the usually associated violence with it.

It would take a little selflessness instead of selfishness. It would take putting the other guy first. How about we start with ending world hunger and work at it from there? Let's face it you have a lot more reasons to kill your neighbor when your belly is empty. We have the capacity we just need the will.

True. World Peace is entirely possible and totally achievable within our lifetimes. But humanity has an almost uncanny ability to fuck up at the slightest opportunity. I'm hoping, but I'm not holding my breath.

Organized conflict would certainly become harder under Anarchism, due to the lack of a central authority, but how would crime be fought? How would the economy work out? How would the Anarchist lifestyle be protected in the event of a threat?

Additionally, world peace could be achieved under essentially any ideology, since people who agree with each other tend to not want to kill each other.

sort of, i mean what better way for people to have a voice than for them to deal with things on an individual basis?
By not relying on a governing body people would take more responsibility for how they behaved abroad and suchlike.
In other words maybe.

i still want to know how those that think peace is impossible due to 'human nature' explain how europe went from being a place wracked by massive wars every few years to a place where its effectively unthinkable that any of the major players will bomb any of the others? how did the wild west become filled with quiet exurbs? are the people living there no longer human?

I think they went off war really quickly after two World wars in which they were in the thick of it, plus a pretty scary cold war too, no one really cares anymore for the old rivalries that might once have divided Europe. With the threat of entire cities being reduced to rubble you have to think really carefully about whether you really don't like the your neighbour so much as to accept half your country being annihilated. Because typically before these devastating wars, although people died, the cities were more or less intact after a war and it was easier to control populations, but now there's just no point who would bother fighting for a city if it's going to be levelled in the process of you defending it?
