When the UCL (by semi or quarter) is mostly dominated with clubs from Spain, Portugal, England, France, Germany, Salzburg would be considered a dark horse or underdog.

Imagine if the farmers team from Austria manage to make it to the CL quarterfinals. That would be a surprise.

Their chance was last season but the group was too complicated

As if Serie A could allow itself to lose the income granted by Inter, Milan and Juventus... especially in recession times.

They didn't have an issue with that in 2006, although that did only end up being Juventus in the end.

In 2006 no Superleague was proposed and there was no recession. I don't really think you know what you're talking about.

I think they refer to the Calciopoli scandal, which happened in 2006. Juventus got relegated although the other prominent teams that get Serie A their profit like Inter and Milan stayed on Serie A (Inter won the league as they weren't involved, Milan got deducted some of their points).

If it's one thing, Agnelli loves to create scandals and cheat. He can't win by building a squad around Ronaldo, so he pushes the ESL bullshit.
