have you ever eaten a banana

Did you eat bananas for a decade after your doctor told you they'd help keep you regular, and then end up with bone and thyroid cancer? If so, you may be eligible to join the largest class-action lawsuit in the US since the Great Mesothelioma War! If you were unwittingly exposed to high doses of potassium-40 and suffered health consequences, you may be eligible to receive up to $50,000!

Japan Will Release Radioactive Fukushima Water Into The Ocean, And Why That’s O.K. (Forbes)

I was going to post the text of the article here as well, but it is thickly littered with links to other sources.

Something tells me all the fear mongering and misinformation is a Chinese ploy to misdirect blame for polluted waters.

"Comrade Chairman, what will we do about the problem with the polluted coastline?"
"Blame Japan."
NOTE: This nation's government style, policies, and opinions in roleplay or forum 7 does not represent my true beliefs. It is purely for the enjoyment of the game.

I don't see what the big deal is, it's already been diluted and it's going to get even more diluted.

Greenpeace and three countries that are historically hostile to Japan isn’t a particularly impressive list.

Don't you know? A 9.1 magnitude earthquake with associated tsunami might hit a profit maximised nuclear powerplant in Bavaria. *eyeroll*

I still have to love the fear mongering Wiki Articles that decide to list the earthquake and Tsunami risks for every nuclear power plant on the planet and they're trying to claim they're not fear mongering.

Especially the ones that are far inland and they still give an earthquake and Tsunami risk not pointing out that if a Tsunami is hitting a nuclear power plant 30 miles inland, the radioactive release of the area 30 miles around it aren't going to matter much because a wave that big will render much of the earth uninhabitable.

Or an avocado. Or Brazil nuts.

The main problem nuclear has is the sheer ignorance of people on the subject of radiation (which is partially a lack of education and partially an effect of The Simpsons probably). When functioning correctly, nuclear power plants release less radiation into the environment than coal plants. The failure of the Fukushima power plant was more about a failure of the government of Japan to properly regulate the nuclear industry due to corruption.

The old attitude of if there is a problem dump it in the oceans where no one will see it. In the end, they rather dump it then spend billions on actually solving this problem. Wonder what the fishing industry thinks about all this.

Edit - Time for this song "Los Pescadores" (The Fishermen) that accompanies the following jokes. Forget about the jokes just listen to the song which is about ocean pollution. Plenty of talk and no solution. Only a discussion. Record is from 1974 Venezuela. Some things never change.

This record was once prohibited in some places - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nn6p1-6bmE
