The Communist Prince, Prince of Marx, A People's King.
All good titles for my new film about the revolutionary communist prince of the UK.

That could actually be an interesting idea for a book/movie.

It exists. It's a miniseries. It was made in 1993. It's blatantly inspired by Charles but never names its King.

No doubt Prince Charles was deeply inspired by Prince Souphanouvong's role in founding the Pathet Lao and overthrowing the Laotian monarchy.

Yes, but if we were making a Lifetime Original Movie about Meghan, we'd probably hire Piers Morgan to play Meghan's father and her father to play Morgan.

No, the relevant bridges near Edinburgh cross the estuary known as the Firth of Forth; there's no 'technically correct' spelling that turns the River Forth into the River Fourth - unless that was an accidental typo correcting the typo.

Here are the three Forth bridges:

Image

I used to cross the nearest one every day to go to school, so I have some passing familiarity with the Forth bridges - even if there were only two of them in my day.

There is, however, a Firth of Fifth...

I meant that I know of the Firth of Forth from my many hours of uboat simulations and by extension the idea that 'Fourth Bridge' is over the 'Firth of Fourth' rather than literally being the fourth of 4+ bridges. But anyway I admit that I made a booboo on its true name.

Just waiting for her now...
A nation on the Antarctic peninsula, which is mostly hemiboreal in this timeline. Under a technocratic night watchman state with an absolute monarchy and a geosyndicalist economy, it is an isolationist "reverse ethnostate", seeing mixed race people as the "superior" race in the same way the Nazis viewed the Norse Aryans, however, despite it's ultranationalism and chauvinism, it is very progressive in terms of LGBTQ rights. Greco-Romano-Egyptian aesthetics, Nazi-style uniforms and symbolism, weed vaping, stoicism, tai chi, veganism, pan-polyamory, androgyny, 70s music, and eco varirents of 1990s to 2000s technology but with modern knowledge and modern bionic highrise apartments that soar from above the neo-antiquated bike-filled-street level lowrises.

There is no justification for such nasty and disrespectful words.

You can't hold a candle to the many amazing things he did throughout his life. He was a legend and institution who did more to help the country and world via humanitarian work than can be put into words. The Prince more than earned respect.

To be clear, I don't mean people who actually have positive opinions of him. I mean the people who want to turn this thread into a screaming match about Harry and Meghan, who want to loudly and publicly tout the greatness of the late Duke, not because they are familiar with the things he achieved in life and feel he earned such laurels, but because the battle lines of their culture war happen to have shifted that way. I don't mean to suggest that all expressions of respect and admiration are insincere, but there is a feel of plastic to some of them.

Well, I actually agree with you on most of that and I don't think dragging up the Sussexes' drama here is really all that respectful of the late Duke of Edinburgh, so I formally withdraw my snark. I hope you know me well enough by now to know that my expressions of respect and admiration are absolutely sincere, or I really have been wasting my time on here for the last decade.

Apparently, my late got to meet the man when he went to a Greek club in Sydney and played pool with some of the visitors during a royal tour in the 1950s. My late grandmother (his wife) gave me a tin with the queen's face on it from that same tour. She was a very big fan of the royal family and a stauch royalist. She supported the royal family in both Greece and Australia, and disheartened when the Greeks overthrew the royals. I was a staunch republican at one stage, but a few years ago, I became a royalist. Long live the royal family!
