Jefferson Davis wasn't a president of the United States. He was a insurrectionist who led an armed revolt against the government of the United States as the head of a short-lived unrecognised breakaway state.

Andrew Johnson, however poor, was at least a US president.

Brings me back to my earlier question Should I replace Biden with Johnson and redo the first matchup?

Garfield stood for anti-corruption, he was the only president to be elected straight from the house, the chamber designed to represent the people, and was assassinated by a man who wanted to be appointed an ambassador just for supporting him, just months into his presidency. There was so much that could have been if he was president, Chester Arthur though I think was a New York port collector before he became Vice President I think.

TBH my leftist ass might honestly pick Republican Eisenhower for having the decency to warn the people about the military industrial complex. If we had heeded his warning we would have had trillions more to provide for those in need rather than wasting it on imperialist wars since 9/11, the only winners of those wars being Halliburton, Raytheon, and Lockheed.

I'm not saying Eisenhower was a saint, dude was reactionary AF compared to some of his contemporaries but I would like to think he genuinely cared about destroying fascism and came to realize that capitalists have the final say over the US military.

Washington easily won the last bracket with 20 votes to Andrew's Johnson's 0, it was unanimous in favor of Washington, and he will face John Adams in the second round. The next bracket might be the closest one we've seen yet, the next bracket will be Thomas Jefferson against Barack Obama.

I agree. The effects of a presidency can only truly be measured after time. Immediate effects can be felt during the presidency, sure, but the legacy and what they leave on a nation as a whole should only be assessed years down the road.

Jackson and Reagan are difficult, because I dislike them both pretty equally. However my hatred for Reagan is slightly edged out because I fault him for the US's current healthcare policy and the rise of the right in American politics. So my vote reluctantly goes to Jackson.
