I feel like the 2A should be very important right about now but Dems are too fucking dense to budge on that issue even for the sake of American democracy.

I think there are good arguments you can make for the 2nd amendment. I just wish that when there's a shooting, and people say, "It's not a gun issue; it's a mental health issue!" that they would then actually do something about the mental health issue.

But that takes money and legislation that actually wants to improve the lives of people. We can't be having any of that, much better to virtue signal on guns.

Cryptofascist doesn't even do justice. They are a fascist party, not only checking off most if not all of the symptoms of fascism but including many self identified fascists such as neo nazis.

Caring about people's mental health sounds like something that's right up the Dems' alley, so you'd think they'd be all over it.

But nah. Total silence. It's almost like they don't actually want to take the time to tackle the real problem with a real solution and instead would prefer to just pretend they're doing something to fix it.

I still wouldn't go so far as to call them Fascists purely because the OG Fascists actually had class to go with their evil. Nice uniforms, strict moral codes, the inspiring aesthetic of a rising international power, leadership composed of educated war veterans, etc.

The GOP doesn't have these things. They have silver-spoon millionaire playboys who rape little kids for their leaders, ugly baseball caps with dumb slogans, tacticool gear, an obsession with the flags of losers, and an army of angry trailer park rednecks with zero critical thinking skills.

Say what you will about the Nazis; they knew something about image. The GOP can't relate.

Same.

The GOP isn't fascist, just screwed up. It's run by politicians, and politicans are more likely to be corrupt--as are people with a net worth of a gazillion dollars.

Why do corporations support candidates? This is why average Steves (can't say "average Joe" since we have one of those in office, except he's a career politician) aren't elected/can't run.

Note: the victory of MTG is largely due to the gerrymandering of an extremely pro-trump district (it’s like the 10th most extreme in the country), and she could probably be gerrymandered out after redistricting.
Now, whether the GOP would do that and what new seat they would create is slightly harder to know, and it’s unlikely they would, but it’s not as if these patterns developed independently of choices from people who should have known better

One reason I run around with Union Civil War imagery even though I am not very patriotic. Cos there are all these people who glamorize the Confederacy, and they say it's about respecting their courage, and I think, "But the Union guys fought bravely too! Why aren't you doing this for the Union guys?"

Many think that the Confederacy was really about taxes and "state's rights" despite evidence to the contrary.

Exclusive: CEOs Plan New Push on Voting Legislation. Companies from PayPal to AMC have signaled they will support joining effort for voter access.

But some companies are afraid to weigh in, fearing retaliation- specifically from the GOP. It's a good first step but it will draw the ire of the GOP.

And one of the main reasons Lee joined the Confederacy, if I remember correctly, was because he was Virginian. And Virginia seceded.

To be fair, it's not that her district is gerrymandered, it's that the GA GOP packed so many Dems in tightly compact districts that most all the remaining districts inevitably just end up extremely Republican. The gerrymandered districts are the ones they drew for Atlanta. That whole region of North Georgia hardly has any Dem precincts.

Not to mention, we see crazies of equal insanity (see Lauren Boebert) being elected in mere R+3, R+5 districts. When 90% of the GOP is more or less on board with this shit, it's easy for them to win with crazies, even in merely GOP-leaning districts.
