Granted the former and neither is also a possibility but our nation's track record with shitty presidents make the chance of the latter pulling off significant enough to consider.

We couldn't even send nixon to prison. Trump if he gets in prison will only get there due to his obnoxiousness not his crimes.

That last point isn’t much of a stretch, really. He’s got animal cunning for sure, but he has pathological issues that might make him screw himself over.

Agreed. The so-called Blue-anon "The justice system works so victory is certain" is the only thing I'm disputing not what you're saying.

I’ve heard legal excerpts on CNN and MSNBC say that because Trump is a former President and has secret service protection for the rest of his natural life, he is most likely not going to serve jail time. However, he can still be a convicted felon and have something like house arrest and wear an ankle monitor.

Kinda sorta. Part and parcel of the theme that the GOP seems to be the Party of Projection. Mayhap not all are like that, but it is DAMN hard to find counter-examples nowadays.

All four of the state legislative specials in Pennsylvania were holds for the Democrats thought in SD-22 the Green party got nearly ten percent of the vote. Martin Flynn still had an easy victory in this district which contains President Biden's birthplace of Scranton.

https://www.wnep.com/article/news/polit ... 7537ad2c39

Scranton also had their primary and incumbent mayor Paige Cognetti won 70-30. She will face Darwin Shaw in November and is the favorite in this blue city.

https://www.wtae.com/article/pittsburgh ... /36468463#

A huge upset in Pittsburgh State Rep Ed Gainey defeated incumbent mayor Bill Peduto for a third term. He almost certainly will be the city's first black mayor. No Republican filed in this overwhelmingly blue city but someone will likely get it via write in. A Republican has not been elected mayor of this city since 1929.

In Harrisburg capital of Pennsylvania, City Council Wanda Williams defeated incumbent Eric Papenfuse for a third term and is the overwhelming favorite in this blue city against Tom Rowbottom in November.

Which side is making it harder to vote again? You’ll pardon me if I note that your ‘authoritarian’ line rings particularly hollow.

Definably more like "Fake news" as a term...Yes. In the sense that Leftist came up with it first when Biden/Harris Stand acted like Biden was like the image of 2008 Obama as a old man.
The term is shit but as i said "Trust the plan" logic is deeply a part of pro-party discourse.

Fox asks Delaware court to dismiss $1.6 Billion defamation lawsuit filed by Dominion alleging the network spread lies about its voting machines, arguing it's protected by the First Amendment

Fox News has asked a Delaware court to dismiss a $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit brought against it by Dominion Voting Systems over the network's coverage of the 2020 vote count, arguing it "threatens to stifle the media's free-speech right to inform the public about newsworthy allegations of paramount public concern."

Dominion filed its suit in March saying that Fox News personalities spread lies on air about its voting machines and software that "recklessly disregarded the truth" and resulted in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

In its filing to dismiss the suit on Tuesday, Fox News said it was within the bounds of the First Amendment to air the claims about Dominion and that the company has failed to back up its allegations of "actual malice."

"The news media has the right in a democracy to inform citizens by reporting and commenting on a President's allegations challenging the security of our elections," court documents state.

The conservative cable news outlet also alleges it "truthfully" sought to present the public with both sides of the legal dispute led by former President Donald Trump and his legal team, as it contested the outcome of the election. "Fox hosts responsibly covered the controversy, repeatedly pressing the President's attorneys, Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell, for evidence substantiating their allegations," the network stated, noting that Dominion agreed to appear on air to dispute the claims. The 61-page document cites an earlier court case against Dominion that is still pending, in which some Georgia voters alleged the company's voting machines produce "unaccountable, unverifying" results. "Fox hosts did not create allegations against Dominion, which predate the November 2020 election," the filing says.

Local news has called the Harrisburg mayor primary election for City Council President Wanda Williams. She will be the overwhelming favorite in this extremely blue city. Biden won here by 72 percent.

It does. The Pittsburgh election was a huge upset. No one saw it coming. According to local news about 2000 write in ballots need to be counted for the Republican primary. 250 votes are required I believe so Gainey likely won't be unopposed but is almost certain to win.

Harrisburg is an upset too. Papenfuse was considered a slight favorite. Williams will be cities second black mayor after Linda Thompson.

As for the ballot measures, it's looking like all four questions have been approved.

Questions 1 and 2 both regard emergency declarations. Question 1 would limit emergency declarations issued by the governor to no more than 21 days unless the legislature votes for an extension. The amendment would also allow the legislature to pass laws regarding how these declarations can be managed. Question 2 would allow the legislature to unilaterally extend or terminate a governor's emergency declaration by a simple majority vote. This resolution could not be vetoed by the governor. BOTH APPROVED

Question 3, to be voted on on May 18 like the others, would amend the constitution to prohibit the denial or abridgement of rights based on race or ethnicity. APPROVED

Question 4 would allow municipal fire departments and EMS services to apply for state loans from the State Fire Commission. Currently, only volunteer fire departments and ambulance services can apply for these loans. APPROVED
