It's amazing how some people have no ability to deal in nuances, shades of gray, that two things being bad don't mean they are absolutely equivalent. Yes, Black people are oppressed in the USA in many different ways, from police brutality to vote suppression to being given higher penalties in courts for the same crime to ... that's a fact, and that's bad.

But as you said, it doesn't mean it's exactly equivalent to what China is doing to the Uyghurs. What they do is orders of magnitude worse. That doesn't excuse or justify what the USA does, but neither can we just say "it's all the same".

(And btw the worst track records of USA regarding human rights are in foreign countries, not at home.)

It still was; even though the average income did rise. A lot of the "great projects" under Gadaffi were to strengthen his cult of personality. Libya indeed became one of the higher income nations, but the waste and damage it caused are extreme.

Libya technically became an oil-rent state while completely influenced by state run propaganda.

I do agree however things are much worse right now for the Libyan people, but Gadaffi being projected as some kind of "saviour" to the people is just plain wrong. He was not the "super evil dictator" as he is depicted however, but rather a warlord who won the support of the majority of the Libyan tribes, for this he should absolutely be respected. Yes he did improve life in Libya, yes he did bring a form of prosperity to them, but in the end he mostly enriched himself and his closest allies and kept a cult of personality intact through state-controlled media.

The problem is, even if there wouldn't have been an intervention there would be no real successor to him, which would leave Libya in somewhat of the same state it finds itself nowadays.
