That's because, as I've told you in the Crimean thread, Russians don't care about ethnicity or religion; Russian care about the immigrants being culturally Russian. If you want to immigrate into Russia, don't speak Russian fluently and don't know anyone who does, have fun with that.

The PR line that you're talking about isn't saying that all Islam is evil, everywhere. It draws a very specific distinction between Muslims who've integrated with society and Muslims who build their own ghettos in cities and villages in the countryside, while shunning national laws. This is similar to the immigrant debate in the US, where Republicans point out that legal immigrants contribute to society, while illegal immigrants are a net loss, whereas Democrats paint all immigrants, legal and illegal with one brushstroke. Don't worry though, MSNBC will soon be hot on the case of making anyone who mentions the legal-illegal distinction for immigrants as "Russian Agents", since merely making said distinction already makes you "racist" in certain circles.
